how much time is taken when a someone places their hands on the stackmat timer after finishing the timer, and the stackmat time delay in total? Im trying to find out if Jay's sub 4 fail was actually sub 4 if his cube didn't slip.

Jay's sub 4 fail would have been around 3.6 seconds if it wasn't for the drop. I calculated this by framecounting

Does anyone know if there is any development in eco-friendly cubes made from recycled materials/plant based materials?

Iirc the fast people usually take around 0.1 s between starting the timer and doing the first move, and also around 0.1 s between doing the last move and stopping the timer.

I imagine that's different for the fast events, though, where timer starts/stops can be a significant part of the solve time.

(edit: Also I kind of ignored the main question because of a parsing error, but basically the Stackmat timer's delay is on the order of 1 centisecond or less. The latency between the displays and the actual timer is a separate issue. If I'm not wrong, the external display only updates around ten times per second. The built-in display probably also has a bit of latency, but I don't know how large that is.)

On a normal solve, yes, but he dropped the cube into his lap.
