  • R U' R2 U2 D' R U R' U D R2 U R' versus R D' F2 R2 U R U R' U2 R2 F2 D R'… Took me like a hundred tries to finally get a sub-2 (1.946) non-rolling mean of 24 on the former alg, while I can't even sub-2.2 the latter alg at all, even though on paper it looks like it should be better (regripless, no overworking).

edit: ZBLL drilling thread I guess

    update4: First-try'd 62 with a different alg and 72 with the same alg. I just can't reliably sub-2 my current RUF alg (F U' R' U R U F' R U R2 U R2 U2 R') for 58; R U R' D' R2 U R U' R2 D R' U R2 U2 R' seems promising, but I'm getting even worse times.
update5: Guess I'll resume ZBLL S 58 drilling tomorrow (RUD alg is now faster for me). Sub-2 means on AS 49-52, 60, 62-72.

update6: S 58, AS 57, 58, 59, 61 down. H 25, 27, 28, 32, 33-37, 39, 40 down. AS 53-56 left, but my algs kinda suck so sub-2-ing is going to be hard. H 26, 29, 30, 31 just seem to be impossible; 38 is on the edge of being doable but my exec super overworks left index.

Not sure where I'm going with this. Maybe I should be drilling PLL instead (my G perms are bad and my N perms are super bad).

    update7: AS 54-56 and H 38 finally down, still struggling with AS 53. L 49, 52, 53, 55-60, 61-72 down. L 54 should be sub-2-able with less fatigued hands; L 50 and 51 seem pretty bad so idk about those.
    update8: AS 53 down after switching to the optimal alg r R D R' U R U' D' L' U R' U' (x').
Working on a ~crazy~ idea for an optimal 3×3×3 solver and so far (i) the code is too buggy for me to tell if it'll work at all and (ii) I'm almost certain it won't be better than Cube Explorer. I sure would like to at least get the bugs ironed out so I can determine how useful the idea is and do a writeup, and maybe someone better at programming can have a crack at it.

Idk why y'all think I'm some sort of genius when it turns out I spent over five hours staring blankly at my code editor without realising the bug was caused by reading an alg backwards.

e: One more bug squashed! It's probably correct now. (I should make unit tests or something.)
e2: I guess I get to file this as yet another failed experiment. At least it was a novel idea? Writeup eventually.

That happens to everyone. I used to be into coding (at an extremely amateur level), and there would always be those times where I would have a bug that I couldn't figure out how to fix, just to realize I misspelled a variable when I tried to call it

    usually smart people are dumb
when is the next 5x5 solver coming out?

Big cube domino redux is unbeatable, so never.

Big cube domino redux, thats new to me.

5x5 solvers are multi phase solvers right,
first the centers optimally, then wings,
    and then optimal 3x3

Mine does reduction in five phases.
    ⟨U,D,L,R,F,B,u,d,l2,r2,f2,b2⟩
    ⟨U,D,L,R,F,B,u2,d2,l2,r2,f2,b2⟩
    ⟨U,D,L,R,F2,B2,u2,d2,l2,r2,f2,b2⟩
    ⟨U,D,L2,R2,F2,B2,l2,r2,f2,b2⟩
This method takes less moves than centres first (50-55 vs 75-80). I have a crazy edge pairing method that might close the gap a bit (see my post on cubesolvingprograms) but I never got to working out the details.
How do you pronounce your name? I've always thought of it as "Zizzy"
