So I'm learning Algorithmic F2L. I learned intuitive F2L just 3 weeks ago. Started CFOP at that same time, and I learned full PLL about a week from starting CFOP as well as 2 look OLL. (For context). I know how to do 31/41 of the basic F2L cases either algorithmically or intuitively but efficiently. E.g. For the edge slotted (on right) but flipped and corner having white face you on top, I do U2 R U R' (to pair) and then something like: y U' L' U L to insert. Like that example, I just intuitively found efficient ways.

The only ones I need to learn are 4 of the 5 'both slotted' cases, and 2 of the 4 'edge slotted' cases as well as 4 of the cases where both pieces are on top (connected) and white is on the side of the corner. I can do all of them, but they are usually very inefficient (like 15-16 moves with awkward finger tricks).

So my concern is about all the other 126 odd cases, where the edge and/or the corners are slotted in the wrong place. Does knowing those really help (obviously not all 126, but maybe 20 from each section)? Isn't just applying one of the 41 algorithms and slotting it differently sufficient?

So I have this problem. with 3 f2l cases. I do intuitive, and I am decently fast for only a couple of months in my belt. 17 sec single. 24 sec average. But these three case suck. I always panic and do beginners method and screw my solve. What should i do for these cases. Corner solved. And edge in same slot flipped. Corner solved edge orientated directly above the side your on. And corner solved, and edge directly above on the left. Recommendations?

For corner solved cases, using short beginner's method algs is arguably fine

Here are some alg pages for F2L:

Corner solved. And edge in same slot flipped.
do a sledge hammer and then solve the resulting case
R' F R F' R U' R' U R U' R' U2 R U' R'
Corner solved edge orientated directly above the side your on.
Remove the corner and solve the resulting case
R U' R' U' R U' R' U R U R'
corner solved, and edge directly above on the left.
Remove the corner and solve the resulting case
y' R' U R U R' U R U' R' U' R

I know all the 41 basic cases. (Pretty efficiently as well, with most being 9 or less moves, or easy triggers). Is it worth learning some of the more important cases?

HOWEVER, cases, when the edge and or the corner are slotted in the wrong place, are really inefficient for me. With cube rotations and pauses and whatnot.

For context, my averaged time is 38 seconds. 7/17/8/6 (My average splits, more or less). I know full PLL and a couple of the full OLL cases (learning one and it's inverse whenever I am curious.)

I attached a spreadsheet.

When I solve the cube I usually get around 46 or so seconds. I think what slows me down the most is F2L. I’m finishing it difficult to improve F2L. I am getting a bit faster with it, but not by much. Currently I use intuitive F2L. Would it be better for me to learn F2L algorithms?

Hi all,

Seems like a lot of the time, I see people using M-move slices during F2L or near the end of it. I was wondering what this is about? What algs are they? Because it seems like these people are usually always the fastest.

Thanks for the input and happy cubing

Back two slots are completed.

How do I solve red green here when the edge is in place and the corner is in the front left slot?3C319338-AC05-45ED-9226-EA1F5AC2D02B.jpeg

Solving the green orange pair in the back (the corner is upper front left at the moment)

I just U2 then RU’R’ to pair them up, then I rotate and insert.

Is there any more efficient way to do this case?

Which one is the best set for learning and what you need to learn to have like 5 seconds on F2L(which algorithms).Algorithm F2l pair in all sides(learn?)
