Do you have a 50mm zhanchi? Because properly lubed, it's probably the best cube ever made, besides the Weilong.

Isn't it a bit too small even for OH? Coming from somebody that feels more comfortable at OH with a regular 57mm cube than with a mini 54.5 / 55mm (I have a Weilong Mini).

Changing subject. I got my CB 5x5 in the mail today. I feels good out of the box (even if mine came a bit dry, I'd say) but I don't have any other 5x5 to compare to so my opinion is not worth much. Comparing to my Aosu 4x4 I'd say it turns almost as well but I have yet to get used to it. At first the layers are too small for my inexperienced hand (at big cubes). Are the Moyus (Aochuang / Huachuang) bigger than the CB?

It's the perfect size for me, and I have huge hands. You have absolute control of it. Try one, and you'll see what I mean.

Does it CC well?

The MoYu 5x5 cubes are actually smaller than the Cyclone Boys 5x5. The cubies are tiny and it makes for a fiddly feeling cube that makes turns like a d or d' really risky.

On the other hand, they are remarkably stable. The Cyclone Boys cube feels floppy by comparison.

should i consider getting one or should just go straight to the moyus

Out of the box, direct CC is a tiny bit more than 1 cubie, reverse like 1/3 of a cubie.

I have no way to compare but even with the CB 5x5 I found it difficult to perform de 3x3 stage due to how tiny the layers are and, yeah, if I try a D most of the time I move 2 layers instead of just one. I've never had a 5x5 though so I'm a patzer.

It depends on your budget and your aim. If you want the best possible 5x5 out there then I'd go for the Huachuang. I you just want a decent 5x5 at dirt cheap price, the CB looks like a very good option.

That's a tough question. If you're just casually interested in learning 5x5, get the Cyclone Boys. It's cheap and very good. As for it being a serious contender with speedcubers, nobody really knows right now. My first impression is that it's a great size and performs well but it's a little less controllable than the AoChuang (my main) or the HuaChuang (which I dislike because of the catchy outer layers).

I suspect the CB is just going to add to the debate over which is the better 5x5 rather than become a runaway favorite.

Big cubes do make the 3x3 stage a different challenge. They slow you down and you can't rely on your 3x3 muscle memory to get you through the algorithms. I've had to swap out several that rely on d or M turns because they're too risky to execute (and practically impossible on 6x6 and 7x7). I really enjoy doing centers and edges, though. It's a more intuitive, zen experience for me. My progress with big cubes has been incredibly consistent for 9 months straight and I'm still getting faster whereas my 3x3 is beginning to flatline. I'm hoping I can get to sub 2:00 on 5x5 in a few months.

I just one a competition and got 40$ of vouchers. I have a pyraminx,A Moyu Aolong v2, a Moyu Aosu.
What should I buy? I'm looking for WCA puzzles only. Which 5x5 should I get? I want a 3x3 which is fast. I haven't been on the forums for 6 months and so I don't know about any of the new cubes released.

(UNPOPULAR OPINION): After trying multiple different 5x5s, including the SS and CB, I can't help but notice the Huachuang and Aochuang have a "sluggish" characteristic. I didn't realize it at first but they are really sluggish in comparison to some other brands, and they feel heavier. They aren't worth $30-40 personally, but I know some places have them for $20-30.

Aolong is a fine 3x3. If you must then try the hualong. For 5x5 try the Aochuang or huachuang.

If you want your voucher to stretch over a 5x5 and a 3x3 then I'd suggest you to get the new CB 5x5, it's very cheap ($9 to $12 depending on the store). If you want a new, fast cube as well, I'd say Moyu Hua(n)long. If you want it super-fast then I'd say Fhangshi Guangying. With these two items you still have almost $20 worth to spend in other things. You could get a Megaminx or, you know, whatever floats your boat.

Maybe they need a little bit of breaking in? To be honest I don't know much about big cubes.

Yeah, you're completely right about muscle memory. I still have problems with some PLLs in 4x4. I'm lucky that my only M-slice PLL was H-perm and I have already learned a 2-gen alternative for OH anyway. Good luck with your up-to-now impressive progress! I have also started to practice other things than 3x3 but, for some reason, I have chosen 2x2 (I just learned Ortega).
