4x4:
Pros - Easy to learn from 3x3, good first step to bigger cubes
Cons - Double Parity :( , need to take extra care on centre building

5x5:
Pros - FreeSlice, only one parity alg to learn
Cons - 3x3 centres and 3 edges to join

In my honest opinion, I would buy the 4x4 first if you only currently own a 3x3. Take it one step at a time, and a 4x4 will set you up for all future even layered cubes.
Hope this helps :)

Thanks. I've solved both cubes virtually (takes forever). I know 4x4 edge parity but not corner parity (yet). I did not come across 5x5 parity though. What is the best 4x4 method? I know yau and hoya are good for cross building while edge pairing, but i dont use cfop. If i decide to use cfop for big cubes (cross+f2l is under 15 seconds, 2 look oll, 2 look pll, but occasionally i can use cmll/coll if i get a eo skip), i would use yau, but what form of edge pairing would be best? (I mean like 6-2, 3-2-3, etc.)

So, I'm hearing a lot of neutral/disappointing stuff about the Aoshi...should I get the Aoshi or Shengshou 6x6?

Preferably could someone who has used both tell me which one they prefer.

Also: are the mechanics in the Shengshoue the same as Moyu big cube mechanics? I'm not a huge fan of them.

I'm a pretty new cuber with about a week's experience and im hoping to get a better cube to use.
My average of 5 right now is about 1 min and 14 seconds. (3x3 cube)
My cube is a pretty generic one that locks up 24/7 and can't corner cut . Im not sure what cube to get and im leaning towards zhanchi and yulong ! I really need help choosing a 3x3 cube to get for now! or should i get a 2x2 cube?

Almost any Moyu, YJ, Dayan or Shengshou will be a great improvement over your current one. My preferred ones are the YJ ChiLong, Moyu Weilong and Shengshou Aurora but you can't go wrong with any of the others.

I own the zhanchi, weilong and aolong among others but I keep going back to my stickerless yulong. It's the cheapest 3x3 I own (until my guanlongs turn up).

Funny. I have all the popular cubes and I'm fastest with the Sulong so I've made it my main. It's also the cheapest in my collection.

It happens to me as well. I have most of the new cubes but my main is one of the cheapest I bought, the ChiLong. I like the Sulong as well but I tend to lock a bit more with it than with the Chilong or Weilong.

Thanks for the replies! I probably will buy a Zhanchi ! Not sure i should get a stickered or stickerless tho ! :/

It depends on whether you plan on attending some comp. Then you will need a stickered cube. If not, and you don't want to worry about re-stickering it from time to time, you can get a stickerless one. But, just for you to know, I own both zhanchis, a stickerless and a stickered one and they don't feel the same at all. I don't know if it is something related to the plastic used for the stickerless ones or what but I prefer the feeling of the stickered. Even though there are better cubes out there right now (YJ and Moyu) in my opinion, if you want a Zhanchi then go ahead with that! I will not try to make you change your mind.

I've been away from cubing for a while and I want to get back into it, what are considered the good cubes these days?

do you mean they feel different when turning? or a different texture just when you touch it?

Also, im looking for a new cube as mine is a rubik's brand and is missing a couple stickers. I'm thinking about the aurora or the zhanchi, however i was wondering about the aoulong, i saw that it might not be good for people above sub 20, but is it really that bad to get it? (i have a pb of 49 and average about one minute) Also I'm not able to go to competitions, and have only ever used a rubik's brand. so i dont really know what i want or how to figure it out or anything.

The stickerless Zhanchi is a lot smoother and more buttery feeling than the regular one. The regular feels bexy boxy/clunky.

I don't like the black one, but the stickerless one is one of my favorite cubes.

Moyu weilong, moyu aolong. These are pretty much the leading cubes right now. There are others like the Moyu LiYing and fangshi shuangren, but they aren't as popular I think.

There's also the YJ Sulong and Chilong which are perhaps not as popular but very good as well. My current main is the Chilong. Also the Shengshou Aurora is a great cube. I don't know about Cyclone Boys and other brands 'cos I have never tried those.

As you can see, other people seem to agree in the difference of feeling and TraciAG has described perfectly that difference, but we don't agree in our preference, hehehe. Perhaps the problem is that I have not properly adjusted my stickerless Zhanchi (tensions, lubing) but, as my main cubes are now the YJs and Moyus, I don't think I'll take the effort to do it any time soon.

Regarding what you say about the Aolong I don't think you have to worry about the cube being too fast, etc. You can always adapt controllability with proper lubing and tensioning. It is just that the Aolong deforms a little too much for my taste and it is a bit too rounded but it is a great cube. Also, if you are going to have it on very loose tensions it will corner twist more than other cubes, even if it is the v2, I think (I only have a v1 and it corner twists a lot). The Aurora is a great cube as well and I like it a lot. Its corner-cutting ability is a bit sensitive to proper tensioning and lubing but that should be no problem at all and it is fast and controllable and has no corner-twisting or popping issues (the Zhanchi tends to pop frequently on loose tensions and mine tends to lose the center caps as well once in a while).

Which of these cubes are good for me?

Hello,

its time for a new cube. (3x3x3)
because my older one is peeling so much :)

yesteday i teach my sister how to solve it.
she likes it very much.

I acctualy live in the netherlans so i can only get these 3 cubes:
Dayan V zanchi
Moyu weilong ( i dont now v1 or v2 i quess its a v1)
Dayan guhong v2

my turning style: very normal. i turn fast and very accurate. it needs smooth and some good coner cutting.
my little sister: she turns not that fast. but if she see some steps it goes quick and unaccurate. So a cube with minimal pops would be great.

and normal stickers are welcome:)

if u have any idea's or suggestions.

please let me now down here.

Kind regards,
Marc de Graaf
