There's an old thread here which I remember using as a guide back when I started cubing. However, it's mostly outdated now. The main thing deciding how quickly you improve is how much time you dedicate to it, and how effective your practice is. If you do lots of solves, both fast and slow (to improve lookahead), and you're constantly learning new algs, you'll improve much quicker than what that guide suggests.

I mean like... Is there a thread that explains how fast you should do each step to be sub 20? For example cross in 3 seconds, F2L in 10 etc.

Oh right. In that case, this thread has percentages for advanced solvers, but this may not be accurate for people who aren't world-class. As an estimate, I suggest 1/8 - 4/8 - 1/8 - 2/8 for Cross-F2L-OLL-PLL for most people. It's easy to remember and close enough to sensible splits.

But these splits are very hard to find accurately. Imo, if you ever feel like any particular part of your solve is weak, then work on improving that part - don't worry about specific times too much. Those splits suggested above are only guidelines; don't take them too seriously!

After I uploaded the cube solving video to Metacafe, It was tagged as "Inactive" for a long time, what's the problem? I ever deleted the video and reupload, the problem is still there.
Upload to other video web site is not the answer for me.

If you absolutely cannot use any other website, I'm afraid to say you're SOL.
 
Im new to this website so sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum, but does anyone know of any pdfs or websites with all OPLL cases? Speedsolving wiki has one but the way the algs are written is very annoying. The most efficient way to write them that i've found is for example: (R' F) (Y perm) (F' R) or even R' F (Y) F' R. Does anyone know of any websites where the algs are written in this format? And if not, how can I create a file with every zbll case so I can write them myself?

You can get every ZBLL case from quite a few websites though I' not sure you can get OLL algs specifically as these are in general worse than the actual ZBLL.

The wiki shouldn't be too hard to use; you just need to replace the alg in brackets with the PLL name which is written in the Heading of each set.

It's probably also worth noting that although every ZBLL can be a PLL conjugate, some require too many setup moves to really be useful

There's no good OPLL list because all of the useful cases can be done intuitively (and you don't need a list for those), and all of the bad cases are bad and you shouldn't use them anyway.

Side note: All of the J perm setups on the OPLL wiki page are pointless (literally every case is already a short and fast ZBLL), but here are two less-conventional ZBLL algs that set up to J perm on the right face: #1 #2.
 
It's been almost a year for me to start cubing. But I have never gone to a comp yet. And I don't know how is Ao5 calculated.
I have 2 questions.
1. How is normal Ao5 calculated?
2. How is it calculated when 1 or more solve is a DNF?
 
Best to just quote the regulations here:
9f8) For "Average of 5" rounds, competitors are allotted 5 attempts. Of these 5 attempts, the best and worst attempts are removed, and the arithmetic mean of the remaining 3 attempts counts for the competitor's ranking in the round.

A DNF counts as the worst attempt. More than one DNF means a DNF average.
