On a 3x3x3, I use my fingers to keep track of the edge pieces I've covered. You have 10 fingers and 11 pieces to cover, and you don't need to cover the last piece, so it just works out. It makes memo look awkward, and probably slows me down a little bit because I don't have as clear a view of the cube, but it really cuts down on DNFs. You can instantly tell where the remaining pieces are.

Unfortunately, this method doesn't work on wings for a 4x4x4. I hate extra wing cycles.

Anyone know good ALGs for the following cases? I'm learning turbo corners but with UBL buffer.

UBL - URB - LFU
UBL - RBU - FUL
UBL - BUR - FUL

UBL - LFU - URB
UBL - LFU - BUR
UBL - FUL - RBU

Thanks.

For TuRBo are you setting up all 3 corners to UBL, UBR, and UFR?

If so then:

UBL - URB - LFU : L U (A perm) U' L'
UBL - RBU - FUL : R F D' R (A perm) R' D F' R'
UBL - BUR - FUL : F R D2 F2 (A perm) F2 D2 R' F'

UBL - LFU - URB : F (A perm) F'
UBL - LFU - BUR : F2 D R' (A perm) R D' F2
UBL - FUL - RBU : R F D' R (A perm) R' D F' R'

Wow thanks Mike, that is an amazing idea! I will try it out tonight, hopefully I can join the BLD accomplishment thread tonight !

Also, I was planning on just doing pure BH eventually. Which is easier to learn first? Edges or corners? My brother said that he thought edges were easier, but he also suspects its because he already had a grasp on commutators from BH corners.

If you know K4 It helps a ton... I have to say edges are much easier than corners.

I learned corners first, and I was actually pretty confused with edges :P I just had some confusions like if the cycle was B->C->F, for some reason it would take me the longest time to think of it when it was simply an B9 (U2 L' E2 L U' L' E2 L U')(U L' E2 L U L' E2 L U2)

Well, I dont know really. I got a little more confused with the uber simple ones like U2 M U2 M' (:fp)
Corners just seemed much more intuitive; less constraints. For instance, if you didn't know how to do something, you could just rotate the corner until you saw a solution.

Honestly though, you could learn them at the same time. The only real hard thing to understand for me was cyclic shifts, I sometimes just have to guess that its right.

BH corners: cant categorise (URB LBD UFL) (URB RFU ULB) (URB RFD DLF). What category? And what alg?

(URB LBD UFL) - standard 8 mover: [U2, R D' R']

(URB RFU ULB) - A9: B [B D B', U2] B' --> B2 D B' U2 B D' B' U2 B'
I would do a y or y' to make this fingertrick friendly: y R2 D R' U2 R D' R' U2 R'

(URB RFD DLF) - 8 moves: [F, D' B2 D]
Once again, a y rotation makes this case much nicer: y L D' R2 D L' D' R2 D

@Eric: The level of difficulty of BH corners and edges probably don't differ much, but there's a reason why most people learn BH corners first. It's much more beneficial to 3x3 BLD (if you switch from say Old Pochmann or 3OP corners) than if you switch to BH edges from something like M2, because M2 is already pretty fast, safe and easy.

thanks :) Gonna work on my corner memo tomorrow at work. Thats the part I dont feel comfortable with right now. Also going to print out my LPL before work also, didn't get a chance to tonight because the library closed. Gonna do another attempt tomorrow night, I might make another room, only having 1 room = 1 attempt per night is sort of annoying to be honest.

After a bit you start to not use the room, it becomes more of a sentence. I recommend when you get a few successes that you start to make it a sentence.
I have 8 rooms right now, purely for multi.

Hey I use Pochman/M2 because I am a total beginner at blinfold solves and I was wondering when you memorize the corners using the method shown in Eric Limeback's tutorial what do you do if the corner cycle type thing you are memorizing has the actual corner that goes in the place that you are using to cycle the corners around. not sure if I made sense there? If not do this scramble on a solved cube (yes I know it is a long one) (R U' R' U' R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R) D (R U' R' U' R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R) D' (R U' R' U' R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R) Now I know you would have to randomly place any other corner in there that is already unsolved but when memorizing I am not sure how to memorize this I just have no clue my mind can't follow I guess? somebody help me otherwise I am going to just make a thread?
