I want to understand the extent of transfer learning between the 4 events,

3blind, 4blind, 5blind and multi blind.

There are obvious relations like 3blind and multi blind involve the same exec method , and only the memo technique differs.

Also, 4blind is a subset to 5blind, as all the 3 piece types of 4blind are there in 5blind along with 2 additional piece types.

But, there are a lot of caveats to these obvious relations. I would like to get insights and explore these caveats.

I understand the transfer learning may differ person to person, as the practice level for each of the blindsolving event may differ.

I also understand the turning speed for each events differ, like we can be riskier in 3blind compared to multi blind.
And we can go faster in 4blind exec compared to 5blind exec due to one lesser layer.

There are more nuances and caveats that I cannot think of at this point, hence I made this discussion thread.

I mained 3bld for a while but didn't really improve much(stuck at low 40s). I was doing attempts of around 10 cubes in multi when I learnt 4bld(I think). I also started 5bld, and got down to around a 3 minute average for 4BLD and 8-10 minutes for 5BLD. Recently, I started doing MBLD again and went from only being able to sub-hour 14-15 cubes to a 21/23 MBLD PB single pretty much without practicing MBLD. Practicing MBLD also seems to have gone back towards 5BLD, I now have a 6:55 PB single with 2:21 memo(and a sub 6 DNF). I've also improved a bit in 3BLD. If anyone wants to improve in MBLD, I would really recommend practicing big BLD and vice versa.
