Okay, so how to avoid the rotations in those cases? I've always been using only <R,U> to solve my pairs, only recently I allow me to include L moves as well but others feel awkward.
Partial edge control: Alright. By the way, this was one of the few OLLs I know at all.
I always solve the white cross although I plan to become dual color neutral.
heres my solution
F2 D L2 U' L2 R2 F2 U F2 D' B2 F' D2 U' F' L U L2 B F' R
x' //inspection
R F x' R' U' R' F //cross
R' U R // 1st pair
U' L' U' L2 U2 L' // 2nd pair
R U R' U R U' R' // 3rd pair
U' L' U L y' U R U R' // 4th pair
U' R' F R U R' U' F' U R // OLL + CP skip
M2 U M U2 M' U M2 U2 // EPLL
I only used one rotation and used a combination of R and L moves, remember that any oriented edge can be solved with <RUL> and D, use more LU in your solves I promise it'll be much more helpful, rotations are only needed to move around filled slots or to solve unoriented F2L pairs, but when the edge is oriented, there should be no reason for rotations
