How many algs would you need to solve CLL+one edge on 3x3? It's at least 86 (at least 2 per CLL, since that's what's needed if you have oriented edges) and at most 8 per CLL (if you make sure you solve UF each time). Given 11/30 ELLs have one edge solved I feel like it's between 3-4, possibly 5, but I can't find a solution.

I think it can be done with 6 per CLL

Look at the cycles of edges after doing the pure CLL alg, then for every EP you can permute at least one edge by doing no swap, H perm, or clockwise U from one angle. See if the edge that will be permuted will be oriented or not, if so preserve EO, otherwise flip all edges

Are the H perm ones necessary? You could do no swap if the edges aren't phased or U perm if they are (forcing unphased edges and thus at least one permuted edge), meaning 4 would be an upper bound (if I'm right).

But it could still be possible with 3...

E: nope, it's not, 4 is minimum. For phased edges you'll need one alg to unphase and another to avoid 4-flips, and same with unphased edges. Looks like it must be 4 I think. Thanks!

A few questions:

If I have a cube in a random solvable state and I use 2 orientations per EO axis (eg. 6 different orientations), what is the average move count of EOline in HTM and QTM and the chance of having a 5 HTM and 6 QTM move or less EOline?

After solving EOline, if I solve the lowest move count 1x2x2 block, what is the average move count in HTM and QTM?

After solving EOline, if I solve the lowest move count 1x2x3 block, what is the average move count in HTM and QTM?

After solving EOline, if I solve the 2 lowest move count 1x2x2 blocks (each one is on a different side), what is the average move count in HTM and QTM?

Sorry for all the questions. Hopefully someone will be able to answer them. :)

What is the point of +2? If you have +2 for example, why can't M slice be +2 as well? And why can't two moves be +4?

The cube isn't really solved, so I honestly think that +2 shouldn't even exist.

In a competition, you usually have to do an average of 5 for every event you signed up for. If you get a +2 instead of a DNF, You are less likely to get really mad, and rage out. A DNF can ruin an average of 5, while a +2 won't. While I don't know why +2s exist, they are likely there because sometimes when finishing your last algorithm, you could get a catch that stops your AUF (rotating the U face after an algorithm to solve the cube.) Obviously, you would've solved the cube, but you weren't able to. +4s don't exist because you can have two turns left to do in AUF. M slices count as DNFs because they technically consist of turning two faces, they're just rotated at once. I hope that answers your question.

Hi! Warm greetings to the community.

I am sure one of you guys had quit cubing somewhere in the past and returned after a considerably long time. I would like to hear about your stories and I would love to hear your inpust. I'm hoping that the topic will be a cozy discussion to us all.

What are some of the best methods?
It is generally acknowledged that CFOP, Roux and ZZ could be used to achieve world class times. If you want to be good at FMC, you could also take a look at HTA, SSC, Heise and Petrus. There could also be other methods which might be able to get world class times but they haven't been shown to get there yet.

Whats the average move count of

(cfop): cross + f2l + cross

and

(zz) eoline + f2l

?

I think I heard if you choose the move optimal block/pair for both and don't use CN, CFOP's F2L was about 30 moves on average and ZZ's F2L was 31 moves on average. That doesn't include EO for CFOP though.

i couldnt really find any answers for this...: Why is there no competitions in Scotland?... there has only been 2! (in 13 and 15)

Yea i know but still just weird cus it looks like they have some fast people... and there must have been more who has thought abt it... I'm maybe totally wrong here :p
Now another question if a person wants to organise a comp the person has to find delegate for the competition... what if theres no delegate who has time? No delegate in the area?:)

I don't think this is the case for Scotland at least

Hi,

Noobie here - please be gentle ;)

I've followed the Beginner's method
and finish with R' D' R D and get every square lined up except one final
corner. See below. If I repeat this or regardless what I do from this, I mess up what I have done. I've now done it 100 times and can't complete. I've tried other Beginners methods and still can't complete, as it falls over on last step. (No-one has switched stickers!)

Can anyone advise how I fix this? Thanks.
