Proper lubrication and tensioning the cube can definitely improve performance. Your best option is to use some sort of silicone differential oil, such as Traxxas, Lubix, or Lubicle. I would disassemble the cube completely, and use a very small amount of a heavy-weight oil such as Traxxas 50k to lubricate the screws, springs, washers and core. Then, use a small amount of a lighter oil (30k is my preference) on various contact points on the pieces of the puzzle as you reassemble it.

Should I lube my new cubes?

Just got a Guhong II and a Zhanchi in the mail. Is there any guide that can show me how to lube the Guhong? It feels a little stiff.

Also, is the Zhanchi supposed to feel like it's going to come apart in your hands if you so much as look at it funny?

w4 for pieces ?

Yeah, I'd say that's a bit too thick for the pieces. I have just ordered from thecubicle two syringes, one wt5 for the core and one wt3 for the pieces. I was in doubt between wt3 and 2 until the last minute but as I'm not very fast I didn't want my cube to become too uncontrollable. Let's hope I made the right choice. Right now I use Maru for the pieces and if you put too much, for some dozens of solves the cube is a tad too fast.

Most people follow the first one. I know it's for ZhanChi, but it works pretty much the same as for the GuHong.

My ZhanChi also feels more like that. The GuHong feels more solid to me. And so does the WeiLong.

Weight 2 AND Maru at the same time make for an awesome big-cube lube

I lubed the core of a 3x3 (a Sulong) the other day with TheCubicle WT5 and the pieces with WT3 but I either put too much lube on the pieces or WT3 is too sticky for the pieces and now the cube feels gummy and slow. Can I fix this by adding a bit of Maru or do I have to dismantle it again and clean the pieces one by one?

How do you lubricate a dayan zhanchi?

I have silicone spray but I read online that you shouldn't use it on a zhanchi...I lubricated my other cube by taking it all appart and spraying all of the piecies with SC spray, can I not do that sith a zhanchi?

Don't want to ruin my zhanchi or something, took over a month to ship.

Its best that you lube your cube with a lubix or cubicle lube or calvins lube or .....
