Yesterday I cleaned out both of my Tanglongs and lubed them with (quite a lot) of Maru. When I woke up today, they were both really stiff! I did some solves, and they were still stiff and gummy. This happens to me a lot, where Maru dries really quickly. What should I do? Should I buy different types of lube?
Actually, some sides are OK, but some are very gummy.

Started happening to me a while ago. I thought it dried faster and faster every time because of dried residue already on the pieces but if you cleaned the cubes before applying then maybe it's the case that the lube loses its properties with time after you open the bottle. I still have a half-full bottle of Maru around but I don't use it anymore. I changed to silicone oil (I bought thecubicle weigths 1, 3 and 5) and I'm not looking back. I liked the feel of Maru but last time I applied it on a cube it was only lasting for like 50 solves or less. Maybe that's what's happening to you as well. Of course the feeling with silicone oil is not exactly the same as Maru, even with runny / weight 1, speedy, whatever...

So I recently lubed my cube with Just Maru. I put 4 drops(2 from one side, 2 from the opposite side- just like CracyBadCuber's way). So it has definitely become better. But how long does Maru last adn after how many days should I re-lube it?

More like how many solves. Personally when I put 3 drops I need to relube the cube after 100 solves, because there is no effect at all.

Hi!
I just wanted to know, if I should buy traxxas 30k or differential oil (I can't traxxas 10k in the store near my house) 10k for my (very very) dry tanglong?
Thanks :)

Best lubricant, and how often should I use it?

I'm pretty new to cubing (~ 2mo, sub30 average), and I was wondering, how often do I need to lubricate my cube? And if so, what type/brand lubricant is best? I have heard that silicone lubricant melts the plastic, is this true? Also heard that oil takes days to dry, is to true either? I have read around, and saw that people used more than one brand of lubricant. Is this necessary? Thanks.

You could use some silicone gel from the cubicle, the weight 2 for pieces and weight 3 or 4 for core, or you could use (traxxas) 30k for pieces and 50k for the core - Traxxas is a company which makes differential oil

1) whats the difference between weight 4 and 5
2) which lubes(cubicle) should i use for lubing yuexiao- core and pieces
3) if i use 4/5 for core and 1/2 for pieces for any cube how often do i need to completely disassemble, clean and lube it (because this is the first time im using cubicle, earlier i just used to lube using maru)

Lubrication :- Yes or No ?

So guys I am cuber [I am saying as I am not that fast :p] and I go generally solve with feidrich's method on the new Rubik's cube [not the Rubik's Speedcube] and my fastest time recorded till now is 48.69 seconds..... So I have ordered the Dayan Zhanchi 5 , which is reputed to be a good Speedcube and that too feliks zemdegs used it for his 5.66 seconds solve... so I want to ask is that when I get it do I need to lubricate the Dayan Zhanchi cube ??

P.S :- My current personal record is also with a non lubed Rubik's Cube !
please help

First of. the zhanchi isnt a good choice. sure it is one of the most revolutionary cubes but its very outdated and old. I would suggest a newer cube such as the yuexiao, meiying, x man tornado.
Lubrication is amazing and the easiest it just to use so silicone lube for beginners. How ever if you want some higher quality get some maru lube and just put some drops in there!

First of all zhanchi is great choice. Every speedcube is good choice. Cube is great and you can learn things like accurate turning. You don't have to use maru.. use just sth-cube friendly.
IBA ples show me why zhanchi is bad, I got 40mm one and it is great, 57mm is too. Old plastic ones are still one of better cube out there. Basically zhanchi is great, I guess I could be sub you on my 40mm one, OH ofc.

Sorry. That came out wrong. i think I should have said there are cubes that are BETTER than the zhanchi

Zhanchi is still a good cube, but I think it's fair to say that the only way a new cuber would choose Zhanchi for their first cube was if they were relying on outdated information. Check the dates on reviews, guys! These days there are more modern cubes that are at least as good, if not better, for less money.

Yeah get best cube out there and get **** turning style too. That's why there are beginniner cubes. Just trust me. Bad turning style is big problem that should never exist..

You could use Traxxas differential lube. I use 50k weight for my cube cores and 30k weight for my pieces. It's a great lube and it comes with a dropper cap, which works perfectly.

Just a side note, if you are looking for another speed cube after you've used your Zhanchi for a while, you could get a MoYu Hualong or maybe a Fangshi Guangying. They're both exceptional cubes and good for beginners.
