Actually, I think you can go this route: VHLS - COLL - EPLL.

I'm not sure really, but this seems better actually, simpler than the options you mentioned above

I think I'd rather have the corner orientation done when I reach the last slot. Also, what advantage does COLL and EPLL have over corner OLL and PLL? I know theres no way it is any quicker recognition and I doubt it can be preformed any faster. It also takes more algorithms, and I already know full PLL.

EDIT: There actually is one advantage to COLL and EPLL for larger cubes. It would be possible to solve bothe parities while doing EPLL without having a vast amount of algorithms.

I have no idea, sorry :P

To increase my efficiency and lookahead, I was thinking of learning ZBF2L algorithms. You would need 86 of them if you did edge orientation with the second and third pair. Then I could use partial corner control or some other last slot substep to get even further in my last layer. My options are: CPLS/2GLL, CLS/PLL, WV/PLL, SV/PLL, partial corner control/ZBLL, or 1x2x2 block/L5P. I've also thought about intuitively placing edges while placing the last pair and doing L4C. I'm really not sure what to go with, but I'm leaning towards CPLS and 2GLL just because I want to try out the 2-gen and see if its really worth it. If I don't go with this, I may try partial corner control or using L5P algs with edges already oriented.
Are you trying to get faster or just learn methods for fun? I think in another thread you said your PB was 27 which I guess means you average ~35+. Judging by most advice on here, you could halve your times by improving your core CFOP, whereas learning huge alg sets probably won't make any real difference unless you have the basics down and are already fast.

Actually, I average around 33. My solves are mostly slow because I look around the cube too much looking for a way to use fewer moves. Also, I'm not going to try and improve my times by going hardcore CFOP, because I'm not sure what method I even want to use. I'm also not learning any algorithms until I decide which ones to learn.

I really like the inspection in ZZ. I actually think it is easier than the cross. I don't like the ZZ F2L at all though. I guess this is mainly because certain situations have no good solutions. One example is if your on the last slot and have the edge that goes into the slot in UF while the corner is in UFR and has the bottom color on top. This is why I was thinking of doing the tripod method with edges oriented.

I also like having the M slice free because it lets you match up pairs very easily. I don't necessarily want to learn Roux though because I'd rather solve the bottom 2 edges and then do a different last layer.Using the M slice and doing EO first doesn't work well together, so I'm not doing that. I think I will wait and see if theres a good way to inspect for corner permutation before I choose what method to do.

Let the guy determine what the point of his own solving is, please.

i secretly hope all his cube theorycrafting leads to him discovering ZZ-D missing link because of all the thought he's putting into CP :3

at least he's putting time into thinking i suppose :)

I mean the point of his average, not of his solving. The point of an average is to show how fast you can solve. He said his average is slow because he's looking round for ways to save moves, which is great as practice technique, but implies that his average doesn't reflect his max speed.

Goal Partially Accomplished (Have got sub-30 avg50s thrice, but not sure, so partially accomplished)

Sub-30 avg5 on cam, Sub-25 single on cam, 2 sub-20 solves till now.

Net Time Saved: -3 Weeks

New PLLs learnt: F/V + 10 = 12/21

Goal for next week: (March 16-23) Probably learn the rest of the PLLs, also work on F2L and minimizing cube rotations and unnecessary moves. MAYBE aim for sub-25. :D :D

Forgot to update this yesterday!

All PLLs learnt except Gc and Gd - 19/21, will complete by tomorrow

Goal for Next Week: (March 23-30)

Get a sub-25 average of 50, improve cross and maybe F2L

Net Time saved: Have totally lost track, will update tomorrow

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSoH4dYbvhIIf you hold the cube with the white on the bottom (at first) you can try this algorithm to make you faster. It is RU R' UR U2 R' Do that three times keeping the corner in color line and always to the left then turn the top to match the rest. Here is a link for A video of it. You can use other colors for the top as well not just the yellow.

Look, If I am posting from the wrong place or, I shouldn't be asking, don't hesitate to tell me. so anyway, I have been doing F2L with 4 look LL for not long, and I put it down to practice to improve, as practice makes perfect right :) I am currently averaging about 1:43 with F2L, and about 55 seconds without. The (hopefully) attached graph, courtesy of Rubik's cube stop watch shows solve progress between solves 20 - 40. Now my actual question is, is this normal/ok for them moment? Should I consider some other method of practicing other than timed solves? As a note though, I'm using a Haiyan Alpha cube, should I switch. Once again, I'm sorry if I should have done this somewhere else/ Search more efficiently, I did however read the faq before posting. Thank you.

1) Don't switch cubes. You have a really good one.
2) Your times are normal. But faster times will come with practice.
3) Learn OLL/PLL.

Thanks :) I think this cube just needs some lubrication as there is actually dust gathering in there! I believe I'll start PLL once my f2l average gets to about a minute, guess it's just practice, practice and more practice!

A few question about my troubles

Hi, my 3x3 averages is about 12-13 and im trying to get sub-10 averages. I will have a competition in 27.April and never been in a competition :fp

I have a few questions to expert cubers :)

1)Im stucking at PLL , lots of speedcubers are expert at PLL, but i dont, im really suck at pll. My hands cant flow good at pll :( How can i be good at PLLs, doing them over and over ?

2) How can i predict (lookahead) PLL during OLL ?! When i watch Feliks and other cubers, they have 1-look LL skill :p they execute OLL and PLL together with non-stop :)

3)My F2L is about 8 seconds (included cross), and practising for to reduce it to 6 sec. But i dont have a good way for practising, i think , solving F2L over and over isnt good way for practise, some practise tips please ?

Thanks :)
