Looking for a recommendation on what to work on next. Currently using CFOP with intuitive F2L and 3LLL (full PLL). I'm not in any hurry to learn full OLL. I already know partial edge control.

I'm thinking look ahead or better cross efficiency would help. Any recommendations?

Anybody know good techniques for tracking first F2L pair during cross solve? Any techniques for PLL lookahead specifically? Any advanced cross techniques (already familiar with relative position but have noticed some youtubers using an m-slice for certain cross cases to great effect).

You don't have to be in a hurry to learn full OLL but I would start learning some cases now because there are so many. Additionally, you could start doing slow solves to work on your lookahead.

Quik Update, averaging anywhere from high 20s to low 40s with 4lll and lbl. SHall I go to intuitive f2l now? Or intuitive f2l and full pll?

Honestly, there is no single reason to learn LBL in the first place. No matter what you average, going to intuitive F2L as fast as possible is always the right choice.
You can learn algs at the rate you prefer. If you don't have a problem learning algs, just go for full PLL, if not it's not bad.

Thanks for the advice. I actually have learned the 4 or 5 easiest to remember OLL's (the ones where it is like one setup move, a trigger or two, and then undo setup). Maybe I'll start committing to one each week for a while. Problem is, I'm really working hard on 4x4 right now and want to learn the Ortega 2x2 algs next so kinda reluctant to memorize 3x3 stuff atm. Trying to become "versed" in 2x2-5x5 and pyra so I can do a couple comps soon.

And yeah I think you're right. Doing some slow solves to get in the habit of looking ahead is probably the next big thing I need to work on.

What should my F2L be when I sub-25? I average 27-29sec right now and that's my next goal. I want to know what I should work on.

Thanks.
Well I am averaging about 21-23 right now and my F2L is about 13sec. I did not really do much to average sub 25 from sub 30, just practice.

Ok, I am going to start the race to sub-25 this week and I'll see what I get. Before then I will finish memorizing the last 3 OLL's and work on my F2L a little bit more.

You know almost full oll? I still use 2look oll bun full pll. You do not really need to learn full oll to get sub 25.

I learned everything in the wrong order. When I started speed cubing I didn't have a guide to follow. I was averaging around 1 minute. First I learned most of the OLL's and then moved on to PLL's and after that I started on intuitive F2L. Now that I look back, it sounds weird, but I was very uninformed.

But I do like knowing Full PLL.

The algs from that document seem fine, with two exceptions; the alternate angle for the A-perm which we discussed, and the second CO case, also known as an antisune, for which it recommends you use a mirrored sune. The algorithm given as an alternate is far better and you should learn that one instead.

I use both, depending on how the last layer is rotated. Learning to mirror algorithms, while it might not help you get to sub-10 seconds, will decrease the number of algorithms to learn. You just have to learn which motions to do with each hand, and then do those motions with the other hand. There may be a significant enough difference in speed between your hands that it matters at the very highest levels of competition, but I suspect that with enough training you could reduce that difference significantly, which may allow you to move on to memorizing additional sets of algorithms sooner and ultimately be very helpful. I'm probably the last person you should take cubing advice from, but that's my 2 cents.

3*3 problem

I am using fridrich method for solving 3*3 cube and i have been practising it since 1-2 weeks then also my average time is 1.20-1.40.I am very angry because of it.I need help?:(

You'll get faster as you practice more. You need to work on just getting used to all the cases, and know all of them and be able to do them from memory without having to look at them(after recognising them first).

Me too a little bit, I never knew 2look pll I learned full pll straight away in about 2weeks when I was averaging 40.

You really don't need to know full OLL at this stage. Full OLL is the go-to thing that most speedcubers use as a reminder that they could be that little bit faster with it memorised. You want to keep this as a backup strategy until you're at least averaging 16-17 seconds. Otherwise, you'll find yourself averaging 20 seconds and stuck again, and this time you won't have the option to learn extra algorithms, making improvement frustratingly slow.

I can't really say anything that hasn't been said a million times before. 8 seconds is fine for the last layer at your stage, just drill the algs you already know. Cross could be a bit better but isn't really an issue. F2L is just looking ahead and trying to get that stage alone under 10 seconds.

Thanks, now I average 17-21 seconds by just practicing. So I should still practice more before I learn full oll?
