Hey y'all. I've been away from cubing for a while, and I've just gotten back into it. I'm stuck at the sub20 barrier and need some help. My f2l is so-so. I use x-cross and edge manipulation, and full PLL. Ideas?

In short, no.rotations
WHAT?!! TELL ME YOUR SECRETS!LOL I am the other way around, I have a 5 second F2L and Im not sub10 :c
Rotations aren't something to avoid. In fact, they are useful for improving lookahead. If you want a rotationless F2L, then you should do ZZ instead. But otherwise, rotate all you want (not really).are cube rotations actually bad in F2L or is that just a common thing to spread around?
if I can imagine a cube rotationless F2L, a usual one, it'd probably be done with a bunch of F and B moves, I'll use cube rotations to comfortably do a good solution and won't go out of my way to avoid a rotation altogether
I'm pretty sure move count and how fast you turn and how good your lookahead is can make up for cube rotating, feliks has some really good solves and he has cube rotations during his F2L
doing pairs from different angles is out of the question cause you're obviously not gonna cube rotate for that
I use front inserts using F moves like F' U F and stuff like that, and R' F' U' F R for a pair to go into the back but never B moves and I cube rotate somewhat often and never y2s, is this a normal thought process for someone at my speed? (sub-19)
This is good. You should be rotating a couple of times during most solves. Instead of R' F' U' F R, I might use R2 F R2 F' or R2 F R F' R (depending on whether the FR slot is solved or not), but I think it's probably faster to just rotate and use R U' R'. R' F' U' F R is a good VHLS alg to know though!I use front inserts using F moves like F' U F and stuff like that, and R' F' U' F R for a pair to go into the back but never B moves and I cube rotate somewhat often and never y2s, is this a normal thought process for someone at my speed? Some people don't include cross when they talk about F2L.WHAT?!! TELL ME YOUR SECRETS!
Ehh no one feels like responding to the solve critique thread so I deleted my post there
I'm gonna repost here instead

CFOP average of 12
last 5 are sped up, because admit it you don't want to watch me do 12 solves.
I use full CFOP, and white cross only for the most part

I know you said you have a decent cross, but it could be better. What dropped me from 27-24 is my cross. I went from 6 seconds to about 3 for the cross. Make sure you're doing it on the bottom, and spend time to find good solutions. Watching walkthrough solves by cyotheking (Chris Olson), Collin Burns, and Feliks Zemdegs helped me a lot. Another thing that's really weird but worked for me is that I practiced 5x5 for two weeks because I didn't have my 3x3, and dropped 2-3 seconds on 3x3. It might be because turning slower on the 5x5 improved my lookahead or as molarmanful said, being away from the cube allows you to re-approach it with a new perspective. Either way, you might want to just take a break from 3x3, because lookahead is something that can translate between events. Hope this helps.
Do you guys know about any good xcross tutorials. When I try making an xcross it would take me quite a lot time and my move count usually is higher than when I do it with a normal CFOP solve.

Don't try to do an Xcross unless it is pretty easy. It shouldn't be a regular step in all of your solves.
Alright, so there is something that I seriously need help with.
During an average of 50, I can never be consistent. I get one or two good solves for the first few, then several bad ones, then a long streak of good ones, then just as many terrible ones, then a few average ones, then more terrible ones, and then some normal ones. I feel like my averages of 50 aren't accurate because of this. I need help to get rid of the sup-15 singles, especially the sup-16 ones. Without these, my averages of 50 would drop significantly, probably below 13 seconds. This really bugs me, because I feel like I should be doing much better. Any tips for getting more consistent / fewer bad solves?
