When inserting the last F2L pair, if you know edge orientation, you can guess the OLL Case. I use 2 Look OLL so its pretty easy to guess and it goes in a flow. But in full OLL it can be tough in the begining but after you get the hang of it, it will be easy. Look out for corner pieces, and then look for edge piece and try to guess the OLL. In PLL I normally see 2 opposite sides and then by idea I solve it :)
at what pace do i turn the cube in order to look ahead - ANOTHER QUESTION.

how to look ahead during oll, pll...

i need speed... i love cubin'

How do you know how hard recognising edge orientation is with full OLL when you use 2-look?

I don't think this is true anyway - yes it's easier to predict just edge orientation rather than the full OLL case, but that's because with 2-look OLL, OCLL isn't a concern until you have your cross.

I don't think many CFOP users 'predict' OLL at all. Most will try to influence edge orientation to avoid cases they dislike, or can predict what subset of OLL they might get, but you can't just say "it will be easy"!

Perhaps when you use full OLL you might revise this opinion. Better still, you could allow people who use full OLL to comment on full OLL, and give your opinion on 2 look only.

Yeah, I meant to say edge orientation, my bad but hey when I am doing untimed solves, I have my OLLs printed so I do the Full OLL and I can predict the case depending on the insertion of the last F2L pair. So it is not that tough once you get the hang of it and with edge orientation you can avoid cases but as I dont use edge orientation, I just look around pieces and already know OLL because I know for the fact that when I am inserting the last F2L pair, in the process of insertion what edge and corners move where so once I know that I can go to OLL as I know that the edge moves there and the corner moved there so I might end up in that case. I just have to look the alg for the OLL but I can pretty much predict the OLL.

I am planning about doing that and a lot more stuff in my Youtube channel. Youtube in side under logo. Subscribe and stay tuned :)
you can upload a well explained look ahead tutorial and some cross examples

I don't predict OLL. But I'm currently learning OLS and I am finding that I can predict what OLL case I would get with a basic insert only after I have learned the OLS case for it. So if you put effort into it I guess someone could end up predicting OLL but it's not necessary for becoming fast, but it could come in handy once you are fast if you use that recognition to skip OLL somewhere down the line.

Hello everyone, I solve in about 35 seconds on average. I know 2 look OLL and pretty much all the PLL's. I was just wondering how to get the cross a little faster. I'm dual color neutral and I usually build it in about 4-7 seconds which is very slow. Any tips on how to get it quicker? THANKS!

Hi everyone, I currently average about 24-29. I want to get sub 20. I know full PLL and 2 look OLL. I don't know if this is good but I was thinking to practice my cross and f2l a lot and in the meantime learn VH edge control cause I could learn VH in a week. Also, how do I look ahead transitioning from cross to f2l? I pause like 3 seconds sometimes. I don't know, it's just really hard to track pieces while solving my cross.

You could find an F2L pair in inspection and track it during cross. If that is too hard, be able to do the cross blindfolded. Do not focus on the cross pieces while you solve them. Look for F2L pairs while you solve the cross.

Don't learn VH let; slow down during F2L and work on lookahead. Having few to no pauses during F2L will help so much getting sub-20. Remember to turn quickly on the LL!
Try to slow down turning during cross if you're pausing that much; you should never need to pause more than a second, just like during F2L.

tl;dr: slow down and look ahead.

I know full PLL and 2-Look OLL, and am sub-20.
All I had to do to break 20 seconds was slow down and look ahead during F2L.

My next step is to learn full OLL, to get sub-15 consistently.

Yeah, my look ahead is kind of weak. But I think my cross is the worst. Sometimes it takes me 10 seconds to solve my cross and f2l. How fast is you LL? Normally takes me 8 seconds.

My cross+second layer is usually about 11-12 seconds (14 on a bad solve). My LL is about 6-8 seconds (depending on my recognition and the alogirthm).

Also, from what you said, 10+8 is 18 seconds... so you ARE sub-20...

I filmed myself solving for the 1st time yesterday and was horrified at how much time I spend looking around the cube to find pieces, especially during F2L. I currently average 52-55s with a PB single of 34s. I've been cubing since the new year.

Any tips on how to find pieces more easily?

Practice is literally the best way to improve recognition. Solve for about 30 minutes to an hour a day for an extended period of time like a week or two and then take another video and you will see less pauses and will probably break some PBs in the process. Try to clear your mind and focus on finding pieces if you want but really especially around the 1 minute mark solving over and over will get you more familiar with knowing by instinct where to look.

Remember which pairs you have already put it, which will help you know what you have left to do, and work on recognizing and executing your F2L quicker.

Of 100 solves? ..Still a little confused...
An average of 100 is when you do 100 solves, and take out the 5 slowest, and 5 fastest times, then average the remaining solves. It is like an average of 5 where you take the slowest and fastest times and average the 3 that are left. Many online timers will do it automatically such as: http://www.cstimer.net/ or: http://www.qqtimer.net/ so that you don't have to do it by hand. An average of 100 will pretty accurately determine your average, but your "global" average may be a little bit slower.

Hi, I average about 50 seconds and my PB is 37 seconds. I know intuitive F2L, 2look OLL and 2look PLL. I also do the cross on the D layer. But no matter how much I practice the F2L, it still takes me about 30-40 seconds to complete it. I can see some improvement though, but does it have to be this slow?
