i have a question about journey. typically how many locations are used in a typical 3x3 solve, excluding parity?

A typical solve has 18-20 images. That's 6-7 if you do three pieces per location, and 3-4 if you do six pieces.
EDIT: No, a typical solve has 18-20 pieces to move.

I am probably about .5 seconds faster (so about 10.5 seconds) if I just say letters. Even then, words for the letters are popping up in my head and I need to ignore them. Not to mention that I can't even remember it.

Ok well I just started learning 3x3 blind :). anyway when you memorize the pieces I understand there is a sequence(like when using story) ,but how exactly do you know where the piece is? What do you do? Thanks!

You come up with a naming scheme for your stickers. Name each sticker on your cube (edges have 2, corners have 3) in such a way that you can recall the location of that sticker with just the letter. Then, as you memorize the scramble to solve, you memorize the locations you have to shoot to with the letters of the stickers you're shooting to. For instance, you know you have this cycle of edges: ARQTISLO

So you would memorize (for instance) ARrow, QuaranTine, Ice Skates, and LOndon interacting in such a way that you can remember them in that order. Then, you shoot to the stickers that the story tells you to shoot to.

I'm averaging somewhere between 2:30-3:00 on 3BLD,a lot of seconds are wasted on my visual corner memo,i have to check like 2 times to be sure if I have memorised the corners right,My edge memo is quite fast so that is not at all a problem

So I'm gonna try and experiment with some other memo method for corners except letters ofcourse,i was thinking of sounds or audio corners,whatever it is called,but i don't exactly know how to use them for corners,suggestions?

And also my edge execution sucks,i use M2 for edges,it takes 1+ min for the solving edges itself,my algorithm for shooting to BD takes 3 seconds+ because i feel if i try to go fast on it,i might mess it up,thats where i really get slow,any tips for fast execution in M2

To use auditory memo for corners, simply label each corner sticker with a short syllable. Come up with your own systematic and easy to remember way of labeling them; for example I label each corner piece with a letter and add a vowel to determine its orientation. During memo, simply go through all the corner syllables and repeat them as you execute your corners.

As for M2 execution, can you execute braindead yet? Or do you still have to think about the setups? Execution will get faster once you can do them braindead, though I suppose at sub-3 average you should be by now. If so, you just have to turn faster/recall faster. As you're solving one edge you should be thinking of the next edge already. For algs that you're not confident to turn fast at, well, just don't worry about doing them wrongly. You'll get it sooner or later.

In Old-Pochmann, how often should one have to use the Parity fix (i.e, an R-perm, or an extra U perm)? as in, what percentage.

In my last ~10 attempts (some edges first, some corners first), I've only needed to use it once. I use computer generated scrambles. Is that about right?

I think it's something to do with "You get parity if you have an odd number solved/flipped edges" or something.

Not quite... you also need to take the number of cycles into account.
If you want to work with " odd= is parity" than you could count the number of T (edges first) or Y (corners first) perms you executed for the first half of your solve.

I use letter pairs so if I end up with an incomplete pair I know I have parity.

I believe it should be 1/2 of the time; if not, it's pretty close.

Strange. If that is indeed true, then either
1) I'm 1 in 512 lucky
2) I'm "doing it wrong"
3) My scrambling program (cubetimer.com) keeps giving me scrambles that don't require parity fix (Could this be the result of scrambles always having the same HTM/QTM lengths?)
