I have not been practicing Fridrich F2L more than a few weeks.

I wrote these personal notes for helping myself out getting better.
if you have any thoughts feel free to post them.

my biggest problem is to spot the two pieces (looking ahead). putting them together is really intuitiv when you get the hang of it. the challenge here is to know the fastest way to do it. pairing up can be done in many ways. some ways can just be done in less moves than others.

I found that once you can cathegorize the sitations in your head it becomes easy to "find" the solution to it.

I cathegorize as follows:

1. pieces already next to each other
2. seperate pieces

pairs can either already be solved correctly or you have to take them apart and bring them back together correctly.

seperate pieces "just" have to be put together corectly.

when you work the pieces around the top layer remember to use an unsolved slot.

most of the time you have to bring one of the two pieces into the f2l keeping one piece in the top layer. from there you can position it so when the other piece is taken back they are in either a pair or a potenstional set.

moves from here is found in the very basic solution.

also, please correct me if you find errors :)

Sorry but you said to correct the errors:

lately i've been practicing more on advance f2l and doing a little 2-look oll and pll. Im still very very slow and most intuitive ways to do f2l i forget and keep forgetting. Does anyone have some advice to clear up this problem of mine and a little inspiration.:)

Wait 2 look OLL and PLL?
If you haven’t finished 4LLL yet, make sure you have and drill the algs. Make sure all your algs are good ones from trusted websites, and practise them. Keep solving and solving.
Look on some F2L websites and videos for tips, and try going through every F2L case with an alg sheet every day to put it into your head. Make sure to understand how they work, and practise them.
For cross, work with a cross trainer to get your cross around 7 moves, then try planning it out in inspection.
And keep solving

For making a cross trainer, I would go with the QiYi MS. Optionally buy two of them, one stickered and one stickerless, and combine the black cubies from the stickered cube with the four edge pieces from the stickerless cube. It looks and works great.

I am also trying to improve my CFOP times and I still use 4LLL. I am concentrating on just getting better at recognizing F2L cases and firing off the triggers I know from intuitive F2L practice. For cubers at our level, finding the pairs and determining which case we have for each one is the slowest part of our solve. Getting faster at that just comes with time; no need to memorize/drill case-alg combinations.

Full OLL/PLL is worth training once you're sub-30 with 4LLL. That means your F2L isn't typically the slowest part of your solve anymore. Until your F2L is only about half your solve time, don't worry about memorizing full OLL or PLL just yet.

The best thing to do if you feel like you're forgetting things is to keep practicing. Don't learn full OLL or PLL yet. It's a bad idea to try learning something new when you're not yet comfortable with something else.

If you're struggling to solidify intuitive F2L cases, do them slowly, look at how the pieces move and understand why it works. Then practice over and over and over and over until its natural. It takes a while

@PetrusQuber what cross trainer do you recommend?
cstimer. Under 3x3, you can choose easy cross, and then choose the number of moves you'd like to practice.

Most people would recommend going sub-1 with LBL before anything else
Now, since you've already started with CFOP, go sub-1 with whatever you're using right now. Then, when you're sub-1, learn all of F2L and 4LLL, which should easily get you sub-30. Try to practice at least 20 minutes a day.

Ok, but first, read before posting because this is a bit confusing to read.

And what do you mean with advanced F2L? Do you mean that you use unsolved slots to pair up pieces, insert pieces from different angles, and have efficient solutions. Or you mean just using algs for F2L?

well he learned so its prob from the advanced f2l vids like jperms, so its probably that he learned the algs for advanced f2l

But, it's not only algs, it's also the capacity to use unsolved slots to pair up pieces, insert and make pairs from different angles, etc. And I need him to tell what he has done and do for F2L, so people have a clue in what to help, because for me it doesn't really seem normal for someone's F2L times go that high.

And I assume he is talking about just the "41" algs to solve F2L pairs because normally people get higher times when they use new algs and don't have then into muscle memory.

he might have used fingertricks to get faster
