  • I enjoy experimenting with other methods, and I thought I'd learn Petrus. There aren't many tutorials on Petrus and I couldn't find a good one. Is there a tutorial you'd recommend?

It's a method for solving the 3x3. It used to be part of "The Big Four" for 3x3 methods, along with Roux, CFOP, and ZZ. Sort of recently, Petrus stopped getting used, and there are almost no tutorials on it. It's similar to CFOP, as you make a 2x2x2 block, then expand it to a 2x2x3 block, finish F2L in a special way, then do OLL and PLL.

Here's the SS wiki page on it: https://www.speedsolving.com/wiki/index.php/Petrus_Method

I might have slightly misrepresented the method, as I don't use it, but that's the basic idea. PetrusQueber can add anything that I might have missed if he wants, as he does use Petrus(thus the username)

(I had to split it into 2 posts due to the character limit)

Ey that’s pretty much correct. The special F2L is orienting bad edges after 2x2x3, then using R and U to do F2L, which leaves you with oriented edges for OLL. You can use lots of different Ll systems. OCLL and PLL is common, COLL and EPLL is another one, and ZBLL is the ultimate one look last layer.
You said you use scratch in a post, whats your username there? I use scratch too.

There isn’t actually anything there tbh. Just a title, then play button, difficulty chooser, and mode chooser. I’ll finish it off when ever I get the chance.

If I were to make a new Scratch account, it would be the same as my Speedsolving username, but since I had an account from like 4 years ago it's stampylongwhat.
Smashed all of my PBs apart from single today, new ones around 23 seconds. Unfortunately, this is with my old technique, so this burst of speed will be short lived :(. Ah well. Good to know I can be sub 23/24 at least ;)

His goal (or her?) is to get sub-8 with petrus, so really it up to him/her to switch. Congrats anyway

Thanks! And yes my goal is to be sub 8 with Petrus. Not trying to be the fastest or anything, but ‘pushing the limits of a method’ as somebody quoted in my progress thread.
P.S. I’m a he :) if you can look at my profile ‘about’

Yeah, at one point I tried to learn petrus, but it didn't really work out. i guess it's probably pretty fast with someone with the right skills.
Yes! 14.65 PB! Easy 2x2x2, less than 3 seconds, followed by all the pieces for my expansion in plain view, two bad edges and basically a 2x2x1 skip (2 moves) and a pair already formed. Then an easy anti-Sune and then a J Perm.
I know I've been saying I was sub 30 for a few weeks now, but there were some stubborn times which refused to shift for ages, and I've finally got a sub 30 ao100!
I think your profile pic should be a block of Petrus Method not a cross abomination!
