how to get faster at f2l?

Hey guys i am having problem with look ahead and f2l . I usually take 35 sec to solve it . How to be quick at it .can u suggest some tips or yutube videos thnx

Practice. Do slow solves. Watch example/walkthrough solves. Watch F2L trick videos.

Example solves:

F2L videos:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3qLnfDZqG0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjMXfZPWAFI (these are in Russian, but they're still really good)

These videos should help make your F2L way more efficient. The only way to improve your look ahead is a lot of slow solving and a lot of practice.

And if you want specific advice, you should post a video of some solves on The Solve Critique Thread:

First Two Layers Help

Hello, I am a intermediate cuber that currently uses keyhole f2l and 2 look oll and pll. I was wanting to improve my time by improving my f2l. Does any one have a suggestion on what f2l to learn or anything? (Most solves are 30-50 secs)

Learning F2L. Anyone care to share any algorithms?

Trying to up my F2L game.

Anyone want to share some algs or sites?

Thanks, I've seen his videos before however they're a bit hard to follow because the cube is so far from the camera :/

F2L

I am wanting to learn full f2l. Since spring break started today I was going to start. What pace should I learn the algs?

F2L HELP

I really want to have help with F2L. I need to know a good tutorial to use. My TPS is around 8 (I bet I worded that terribly) but with that good TPS, my F2L still suffers.

Ok so here I am. I learned 4LLL and I'm now averaging 30-40 seconds with some sub-30s scattered with LBL+4lll. Where can I learn good f2l to start? I saw crazybadcubers, but he doesn't go over some cases so I don't know what to do in those

woah maybe the problem is you're turning too fast and can't lookahead well enough since the pieces are moving around too quickly for you to handle, (8 tps is crazy dude) slow down some until your TPS can match the rate at which you can lookahead and solve slots

what you should do is learn solutions for unusual ones or find solutions for cases that don't seem obvious but are good, for example set up your cube with R' U R F R' F' R, you can solve the pair into the right back slot with a sledgehammer and R' U' R back insert

Help Please!

Okay, so I started cubing around Christmas of 2015 and have gotten my time down to around a 33 second average and my pb is 25.551.

I'm here to ask about my F2L. Is algorithm based F2L bad? I use it and think its fine. Some of the cases I use are if I have just an edge inserted and have the bottom face color of a corner facing me I use U' R U' R' U2 R U' R' if its on the right side and the inverse if its on the left side. Thats just one of many that I use.

Should I be using intuitive F2L? It seems like over time intuitive just turns into alg F2L after all of the muscle memory and similar cases. Should I just switch to intuitive or stay with alg?

im no expert, but i think using intuitive is best. anyone here gonna correct me plz? :P As far as I've seen intuitive is best

It's best to learn intuitive first (although I hesitate to even call it intuitive). Learn the basics of F2L, and the common methods for creating/breaking pairs and inserting. Make sure you learn how to insert into every corner of the cube, not just the front right. Then just practice applying these techniques to all of the cases you find until you can do everything. At that point you'll find that many cases are particularly annoying to solve (ie. they take too long, or they make you rotate too much). For these tricky cases you can learn special algorithms from sites like algdb.net, the speed solving Wiki, or cubefreak.net (be aware this site also has many bad algs that use things like B moves). You can also find tricks just by searching on Youtube. Cyotheking and Collin Burns have some good videos on F2L.
