I personally think lubix is the best lube for 3x3s, but I heard that it does not work on bigger cubes like 4x4 and 5x5. So what are the best lubricants for 4x4 and 5x5? (specifically Shengshou)

I have used lubix on my SS 4x4 and 5x5. Works fine to me?

Ok, I don't speedcube with the cube, that might be it. I solve it, but there is no speed there haha

Shock oil eh? Well I already have some jig a loo so can I just spread out all the pieces and spray it with that, or does 10 wt shock oil provide a noticeable and better difference? And what about traxxas diff oil?

So I recently decided to mod my shengshou 4x4, and I thought since it is already disassembled, I might as well lubricate it as well. I heard lubix is not that good on big cubes, so I wanted to know which lubricant would be the best for it. The only lube I have right now is jig a loo, so is that any good?

use 30k diff oil

had this problem too. maru was reccommended. buyed maru, tried maru. maru didnt change the cube at all ,even with 5 drops.

used reely diff oil (5k) turns great now. higher viscosity might even be better, but i dont have experience with it.

I want some lube that will last me some time, think I will go for traxxas diff oil, just dont know if I should go with 10,30, or 50( leaning towards 30)

Do you mean 50k?
5k is incredibly uh... un-viscous.

I use 50k but I feel its a bit too viscous... it makes my cube feel very gummy. But I do go mad with it sometimes as it makes turning so much nicer, and smoother.

I see..well I absolutely hate gumminess so I guess I'll buy the 30k

Are there any video tutorials on how to apply traxxas 30k to a 4x4?

Depending on what container it is in just put a few drops where the pieces will glide together. I put my traxxas 50k in a separate syringe and assembled 1/2 of my ss 4x4 and "drew" a couple lines on the inside mechanism where the pieces will rub against each other. Then I assembled the rest of the cube except for a 1/4 section (corner, 3 inner centers, and 3 edges?) and put a little between the pieces that are like the inner edge pieces (the inner mech pieces that you mod). Then I assemble everything except 1 edge and put some lube on the surface of the pieces (1 "line" on the edge, 1 for the corner, and a tiny dot on the center piece). Assemble and break lube in for about 5 minutes.
My 4x4 is godly now but I did put 2 drops of maru on the inside for more smoothness. I just did the above 3 days ago and I've done about 50 solves on it already. It doesn't matter if it's 10k, 30k, or 50k. If you aren't using a syringe like lubix or something just try to make very thin lines. It's better to under lube than over lube and have a gummy cube if you hate gummy cubes.

Dose any one know a place that sells Traxxas lube in the Louisville, KY area or places that are just outside of Louisville? I would by it from amazon or some other online store but I don't want to weight a week or 2 for it to get to me?

So I did a google search, and lo and behold, http://srihobbies.com/cart/index.ph...cription=1&keyword=differential+oil&x=95&y=15(scroll down a bit and you'll see it)
This shop is in Louisville (3073 Breckenridge Lane Louisville, KY 40220 (502) 459-5849) and on the site it appears to have 30k and 10k diff oil, didn't see any 50k weight though. The physical store might carry it, you never know.

question about a lube

I know that lubix is the best lube so far, but it's expensive and hard to use (because you need take to pieces the cube and take out the screws), and my maru lube is great but Dries fast from the cube.
so, I'm want to ask if it's good : http://www.greatsku.com/wholesale/professional-magic-cube-lubricant-oil-cube-lube.html ?
I'm asking about this lube because I know that silicone spray does'nt dry fast and Supposed to be good.
should I buy this lube ?

Most people now use liquid silicone, and you don't need to lube the core, lubix is just fine on the pieces alone. If lubix is too expensive there are much cheaper alternatives, like Traxxis (sp?) or any other differential oil (30k-50k weight) which you can buy in hobby stores, or online.

if you consider using silicone fluid, i definitely recommend lubing the core. with spray however, that option is obsolete and spray is just fine aswell.
