Hi! I average around 20-23 seconds using CFOP. I need a method by which I can solve the cross and f2l more efficiently, and in under 12 seconds. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Practise doing the whole cross blindfolded and efficiently. Inspect as long as you need to plan the whole cross. Then close your eyes and see if you can execute it blindfolded. That way you can solve it quickly and efficiently and also look for the first pair while doing the cross.

For F2L make sure you can execute all pairs automatically and blindfolded. After that it's just slow turning to improve lookahead. So you should never be looking at the pieces you are currently solving but rather look for the pieces you want to solve next.

Hello my name is Brandon and I have been getting into solving the rubies cub. I can solve with the beginners method 1:30 but I want to get faster. I have been taking the time to find YouTube videos on how to do it but I just don't understand it can some one help me?

Keep practicing till you get to around 1:00. Try to understand how the cube works, then watch videos again.

They say an image is worth a thousand words so, very difficult task to explain in words what you did not understand from a video, the more so when you don't even say what you did not understand of what part of what video. If you want help you need to be way more specific than this.

How can i do F2L without rotating the cube?
i average 1min w/ beginner method but 1:24 using f2l cos i rotate it a lot any tips would be helpful.

Look at the edge piece you are trying to solve.

1) If it's in the U-layer, and the top sticker is either the same color as the front face, or is the opposite color of the front face, you do not need to rotate the cube to solve that F2L case. If the top sticker is the same as the left or right face, you will need a rotation or at least 2 F moves to solve it.

2) If it is stuck in the E layer but positioned incorrectly, use the same rules as #1, but look at the sticker of the edge that is on the front or back face, and then compare using the same rule.

I don't believe you're just rotating for 24 seconds. Probably you are looking for the pieces you need, and rotating as you search the cube. Just practise, and it will get easier. Don't worry about specific issues like reducing rotations until you are around 30 seconds.

Hello, i have an average of 38 using cfop. my f2l slows me down the most, what can i do to improve it?

Know how to insert the F2L pairs from all different angles. Explore difficult F2L cases and maybe try to devise a set way of solving it each time to alleviate having to do long, inefficient solutions. There are many videos online of these 'bad' F2L cases with algorithmic approaches to these cases, but a good way to learn the cases is to identify which case you find takes you the longest in speedsolves, and playing around with the case yourself to see what you can find.

I'll link a video tutorial on the topic by Collin Burns for your convenience, good luck!

So I know F2L and I want to get better at it... I know all the cases on the Ruwix F2l site. I want to know what to do next, do I
1. Improve one looking?
2. Learn insertions from different angles?
3. Learn some advance F2L tricks?
what do I do afterward?
This question may be asked somewhere else but I can't find it on this thread plus I'm new so I don't know how to find stuff on this thread that well.

So lately I have thought of this brilliant idea that I would like to call cross insertion. This is when you insert your first F2L pair while making your cross. I'm not sure whether or not this would decrease your times or increase them. So the way this will work has you put in your first two adjacent edges, say blue and orange, then put another edge one move from being placed, say red. then you build and insert the F2L pair of the two adjacent edges. Then you put insert the last edge. I will post a video on YouTube once my camera is fixed.(I dropped down the stairs)

Yeah, pretty sure this is just a way of doing an X-Cross. It seems more limiting though, as X-Crosses can usually be done just using intuition. This basically takes a more concrete approach to something that can be done in many different ways.

Actually, that's called XCross. It's one of those 'do it if you see it' things.
I do it occasionally, though faster cubers will do it more often. I know Faz does it about 1/3 of the time.

For months now, I have been sub 20 on 3x3, but for some reason I cannot get any faster. I think it is probably my F2L, and I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on F2L. I do not know full OLL or PLL, but I think it could be the F2L I need help on. For a long time now, I have been trying to get sub 16 or sub 15, but I can't really improve my F2L very easily. So I was wondering if anyone can give me some suggestions or tips on improving my F2L. I think I might be having trouble with look ahead, but I am not too sure.
