Thanks! I'm looking forward to you updating the first post with some information. I hope it's something I haven't missed. Examples? :D
Example solves? Oh dear.. haha. But yeah, I guess I could do that - it'd probably be pretty helpful.

Any tips to get sub-10, or is that something I'll just have to improve on my own?
I'm not the best person to ask since I average 13ish, but here's what I think can be helpful:

If you haven't already, try recognizing your PLLs in 1-look. As in, be able to look at any 2 sides of the cube and immediately know what PLL case you have. This way, you don't have to AUF at all for recognition purposes.

Look at the reconstructions of solves of fast people like Feliks Zemdegs. Brest has made reconstructions of Felik's averages of 12, and the reconstructions are quite interesting to study (he's really creative and his movecount is low).

Also if you haven't already, learn all your OLLs and PLLs. I'm only saying this because I still have 25ish OLLs to go XD

i've been averaging sub 30, about 25-28, and i know full PLL, and 2look OLL and a few other OLL's. for cross, i average about 3-5 seconds, f2l about 15-18 seconds, sometimes less, and my OLL's and PLL's take around 2-3 seconds to execute, and about 0.5-1 second to recognize. i'll post a video of a solve sometime soon, but looking at my times, what should i work on the most? should i start learning full OLL?

It sounds like your F2L could use some work. In general, I'd recommend learning some F2L algorithms for the nasty cases and working on looking ahead. I can give you more specific advice if you post a video. And of course, you could start learning full OLL if you want to. I just hate learning algs so I haven't finished learning the OLLs yet :D

Use the solve analyser linked in my sig to figure out precisely your strengths and weaknesses along with the advice you will find there, but I would suggest that f2l is a bit long, and your cross needs work. As a general rule for the future, if you don't know what to practice, practice F2L. Time working on F2L is never wasted.

Here are some nice achievable targets:

Breaking down an "idealised" 30 second solve:
cross = 3.6 seconds
Cross + 1 = 7.35 seconds
Full F2L (inc cross) = 18.6 seconds
Avg individual pair identification and insertion time = 3.75 seconds
OLL = 4.95 seconds (1.95 AUF/identification, 3 seconds execution)
PLL = 6.45 seconds (1.95 AUF/identification, 4.5 second execution)
Overall last layer = 11.4 seconds

Total = 30 seconds

Ok. I used your thread differently. I figured that I would go for 25 sec.
The idealized would be:
Cross:3*
F2L inc cross:15.5*
LL:9.5
I am going to try to lower the two starred.

Sounds like a plan! Continuous small successes in achievable, measurable targets is definitely the way to go.

The splits I gave were to show you which areas to work on. At the moment your LL is outpacing your F2L/cross. If you bring yout f2l/cross down, then analyse again you will get the splits for 27 seconds (or whatever). You can then see when your cross/f2l "catches up" with your last layer, which is when you start working on last layer stuff (for example). Or you could just work on everything all the time. Just as long as you are specifically working on something and not just mindlessly solving and wonderign why you have plateaued.

Make sure you track your progress, its a great motivator for those times when you are feeling like no matter what you do you can't improve. Just check back and realise, "actually I'm 3 seconds faster than I was before Xmas". Prisma puzzle timer is great for this, since it keeps records. Alternatively, do a full solve analysis once a month/fortnight, save it to a folder with a date in the title and look back at old ones to see progression. However you do it, keeping track of progress is a good idea.

Just wanted to add...
Cross: <5
F2L: <16
OLL: 4-3
PLL: 4-3

So in the best of the cases:
Cross: 1 (happened)
F2L: 5 (also happened)
OLL: 1 or Skip (ALSO happened)
PLL: 1 or Skip (AND ALSO HAPPENED)

All happened, but in different solves.
My PERFECT solve is 6 seconds (never happened)
With Cross: 1 and F2l: 5

Just wanted to say

I hope you people don't mind if I post this here.

My Progress With The Training Method Described in This Thread

Current average: 39 SECONDS

Step 1: COMPLETED

Time Expected: 2-4 Weeks
Completed in 1 week (January 1-7)
Net Time Saved: 1 week (judged by the minimum time it should take)

Step 2: COMPLETED

Time expected: 2-4 weeks
Completed in 2 weeks (January 8-22)
Net Time Saved: 1 week (no time saved from last week)

Step 3: Completed!

Time expected: 2-4 weeks
Completed in 3 weeks (January 22 - February 15)
Net Time Saved: 0 weeks, so I'm ready for step 4 with no extra time.

Proof: sub-40 ao50 twice

Primary Goal: Practice Intuitive F2L, fingertricks and lookahead for one more week and reduce average to sub-35
Secondary Goal: Complete Step 4 (learning all PLLs)

Step 3: Post Completion

Goal: Practice Intuitive F2L
Goal Achieved: I can now do insertions from multiple angles

Feb 15 - Feb 22, 2013
Average - 37-38s
Net Time Saved: -1 Week :(

Will be taking a week off this schedule due to final exam preparation (boards)

Next Week Goal (March 1-8): Be thorough with F2L, solve cross BLD, learn advanced cross techniques, advanced fingertricks, practice insertions from all angles more, make F2L technique better, probably perfect empty slotting (which was natural to me, I started using it in my solves before I knew it :) ). I doubt I can do this much in just 1 week, though.

Tips for achieving my goal are highly appreciated. I just want to be thorough in my technique before moving on to full PLL. Also, I plan on making my net time saved positive during PLL xD

Am I doing well?

On a normal solve I usually finish F2L around 10 seconds or so, but my LL takes almost 14 seconds. Is this normal? Any help is appreciated thanks

Learn PLL and then OLL and then you'll be sub-15. 14 second LL is horrible compared to 10 second F2L which is pretty good. I'd say you're doing great and you just need to work on LL.

Step 3: Post Completion

Didn't end up taking a week off haha

Goal for Previous Week (Feb 23 - Feb 28): Be thorough with F2L, solve cross BLD, learn advanced cross techniques, advanced fingertricks, practice insertions from all angles more, make F2L technique better, probably perfect empty slotting (which was natural to me, I started using it in my solves before I knew it :) ). I doubt I can do this much in just 1 week, though.

Goal Achieved :D

Average: 33 seconds

Net Time Saved: -2 Weeks

Will Move on to Full PLL this week :D

Goal for March 1-8: Learn Full PLL, maybe perfect F2L, learn new techniques

Did a mo5 splits:
Cross 4.82
F2L 16.12
OLL 3.72
PLL 4.94
Total: 29.60 (kinda slow)
Which should I focus on most?

Did ao5 of for plls. All sub-3.5. E and N's were like 3.2 or 3.3. Improved a lot from two months ago, last time I recorded all.
I think the mean of the avg was 2.61.

Is that ideal based on my spreadsheet as linked in my sig? If you havent seen it you may find it helpful, the whole point is to answer the question, "what should I focus on most?" in a systematic way.
