I think I compared them well, shorter setup moves in exchange for longer algorithm, easier setup moves (always 2 gen), never having to switch between conjugated R2s and R slice algs. Easier and shorter parity algorithm, less chance of having twisted corners.

The obvious advantage to R2 is move count, though in a scramble with twisted corners, parity and more long R face algs, L orbit setups the move counts may converge.

I'm not amazing at blind and I definitely have to think about setup moves sometimes, with the exception of memo fails the most likely cause of a DNF is going to be setup fails, imo.

I feel that you didn't get my point. There are virtually no setup moves in R2. If you failed because of wrong setup moves, you probably didn't practise enough to realize that.
Also, add two extra algs for BRU and RUB and you're done having twisted corners (unless they're twisted in the scramble, of course).

Greetings,

I feel like an idiot, but could someone please give me a link to the "D2" Algorithms? (Similar to R2 but done on the D face. Supposedly fingertrick friendly). Not having much luck in searching for "D2". Maybe we should call it MEGATIM or something.

Anyway, could someone please give me a link to the algs?

Considering I posted it and can't find it myself, you're not doing too bad :tu
Come on #rubik and bug aronpm in pm. He was the one who suggested I do D2 rather than R2, and he supplied the comms from his BH knowledge. I'll get back to you if I manage to find the comms, and I didn't practise 2 of them enough to remember. Rpotts, at the "8 specialized algs", there is DBL->LFD->DFR + D2 (all are BH comms anyway, not specialized), there is DBL->FLD->DFR + D2, DBL->BRD->DFR + D2, DBL->RBD->DFR. Then there are 2 A-perms, so definitely not knew algs/comms, and then there are corner twists, same again. If you don't know how to twist corners, and/or don't know your A-perms, I suggest you don't learn this method. And this is a great stepping stone to full BH, if you don't want DBL as your buffer though, keep with R2/L2/whatever! Until I find my post (it's in the Random Cubing Discussion thread somewhere...) just head on to Chris' site, and get the necessary comms. Remember, rotations are your friend.
Yea I am trying to learn BH but its hard to try and learn that, plus COLL, plus memo my LPL. BH is hard for me to understand too..
Not to offend, but when you have 2 successes, I suggest getting faster before devoting too much time to it. Just because your brother loves bld, doesn't mean it's the event for you. LPL requires a lot of work, as does BH. But if you ignore this advice and go with BH anyway, learn this, and gradually add cases. The first 4 I'd add is DBL->Uxy->DFR.

Man, I should get back into bld.

I realised why my searches of my name in the thread weren't working, I was doing thread keyword search, if you search for all posts by me in the rcd you should get it. On phone so I can't currently do it for you.

Then there are 2 A-perms, so definitely not knew algs/comms...

You reminded me about the algs I use for R2. I like them because they are easy to learn and execute. Not move count optimal though. They are simple commutators with setup moves, plus the R2 move needed for R2 method.

RBD = R2 [B2 (R U R') D2 (R U' R') D2 B2]

RFU = R2 [F (R' U' R) D2 (R' U R) D2 F']

BDR = y' [(L U' L) D2 (L' U L) D2 L2] y R2 Ab PLL

FUR = y'z [(R' U R') D2 (R U' R') D2 R2] z'y R2 Aa PLL

DRB = R2 D' y [L2 (D' R2 D) L2 (D' R2 D2)] y'

URF = R2 U2 y [L2 (U R2 U') L2 (U R2 U)] y'

Most of them use D2 moves (as toastman wanted) which can be executed fast by pushing BDR with ring finger followed by middle finger.

I had a look at your R2 algs and here's what I would probably do if I used R2:

RBD = y F2 R2 D2 R' U2 R D2 R' U2 R' y'

FUR = R2 y R2 D2 R' U' R D2 R' U R' y' (also an A PLL, just with less rotations)

DRB = R2 U R' F' R2 F R U' R' F' R2 F R

No, he meant that he wants to use the D2 move as the interchange for solving pieces, not algorithms with D2s in them.
Oh, my bad. So it's just a matter of doing a z-move and translate the algorithms.

Ah, and thanks for reviewing the algorithms, I knew my FUR one wasn't the best. I will learn the ones you suggest.

Where is a good text guide for 4bld r2? Actually, I just need some good algorithms for the r and l slices. I remember an old site that had what what I was looking for, but that was so many months ago.

There isn't really anything to get. Just learn M2 and r2 should make perfect sense.

As for special cases, if the target is in the l slice, just do an l turn to set the piece up to UBl and then do B' R B U R2 U' [r2] U R2 U' B' R' B or some sequence to take the piece out of UBl and place it at UBr.

Shoot to FUr: F d R U R' d' R U' R' F' r2

Shoot to BDr: r2 F R U R' d R U' R' d' F'

Glad to hear you like them.

You *are* an idiot.

Here's the original post by Tim:

M2+D2 if anyone's interested in the D2 algs + parity:

DLB->DRF: D2
DLB->FRD: (U R U' R')x2 D2
DLB->RFD: (R U R' U')x2 D2
DLB->DFL: x' L2 D2 L' U' L D2 L' U L' B2 x
DLB->DBR: x R U' R D2 R' U R D2 R2 F2 x'
DLB->RBD: x z R' D2 R' U2 R D2 R' U2 R2 z' x' D2
DLB->BRD: x L2 U2 L' D2 L U2 L' D2 L' x' D2
DLB->FLD: x R U2 R D2 R' U2 R D2 R2 x' D2
DLB->LFD: x z L2 D2 L U2 L' D2 L U2 L z' x' D2

Parity: L2 D R2 (R U2 R' U2 R B' R' U' R U R B R2 U) R2 D' L2

Could someone suggest a good way of learning objects for Roman Rooms? I've been using sentences for a while now (err... A week?), but I want to start using Roman Rooms as well (for multi, as it was suggested to me earlier in this thread).

Initially I just thought I should simply practise with BLD solves, reviewing the objects over and over... But it doesn't seem to be working, since when a new object comes up, I either have to reference my excel document, or make something up off the spot (which generally isn't as effective, and takes a bit longer).
What do you think is a fairly effective way of learning these objects (and there's a lot of them -.-)? Is there some method to doing it, is there a program of some sort that would help? Etc... Or should I just dwindle on them a bunch?
Help is appreciated.

P.S. Thank you to everyone on this forum that has helped me so far... I now have fairly consistent successes with BLD, using sentences for edges and visual for corners...

Stop doing solves for a while, at least until you have a more solid grasp on your objects. Practice them in patterns.

When practicing my lists I'll either do the A_'s or the _A's

By A_'s I mean:
AB
AC
AD
AE
...
etc.

and by _A's I mean
BA
CA
DA
EA
FA
...
etc.

After doing those move onto the B_'s or _B's, etc.

Flashcards work very well for me. I have a flashcard with every letter pair I have on an individual card. When I want to practice my images randomly I shuffle the deck (It's about 8 inches tall or approximately 20 cm) and go through them card by card. If I only have 5 minutes I only take a portion of the stack after shuffling the cards.

You can also rehearse the pairs in your head when you have to sit and think for long periods of time. On my drive to work I'll often start at AB, AC, AD, etc. and see how far I can get until I get to work. On the way home I pick up where I left off and try to finish all the way through to XW. On your drive to work the next day, repeat until you know your images very well.

Hope this helps. Good luck learning your images! And seriously... Don't do any more solves until your image list is much more solid than it is now. It sucks to not be doing solves, but it's motivation to work on your images every day so that you can do solves again sooner.

Wow, this sounds so dangerous to me xD I can barely do it when people are talking, but that could be a side effect of your training with alarm clocks etc.

Oh and

I am finally over that stage :DDD Its like 100x more fun to do a blindfold solve when you aren't relying on pure nonsense words repeated in your head....

Edit: Lol to the first part, I read it wrong xD

For M2,
I watched Eric Limbacks Tutorial on youtube.
I understand M2, excepted for solve edges on the M slice.
It just doesn't seem to work.
Should I use Stefan Poachmans method of orienting the edges after, or learn algs to sovlve them right away.
I am doing the algs to solve right away but I can't get it to work.
I must be missing something./

Perhaps you have the wrong algs?
target UB - M2
target BU - F' D R' F D' M2 D F' R D' F
target UF - U2 M' U2 M'
target FU - F E R U R' E' R U' R' F' M2
target DB - M U2 M U2
target BD - M2 D R' U R' U' M' U R U' M R D'

Remember to keep track of the M2s though.

I don't know what you're doing wrong, but make sure that if the M slice is flipped then you shoot to the opposite location (except when you're shooting to UB/BU).

Another random guess as to what you may be doing wrong... the move E is parallel to U', not U.

Hmmm... Im also not sure, cause those seem to work, thanks. But, what do i do if..

The Buffer is in position, solved. all edges are solved except for UB.
So... I'm kinda stuck as what I would do.

You have parity. If you counted your Y-Perms in the beginning, you would have an odd number, so you would do the R-Perm after the corners were done. Then do all the edges, then do U' F2 U M2 U' F2 U, then the R-Perm.

:P Ok I'm going to start an FAQ on google docs, if anyone is interested in helping me, just let me know and I can add you. At the end, we can hopefully get a stickied thread. Im just saying cause I think that question has been asked like 3 times in the past 5-10 pages.

Orr If you really dont want me to, just let me know.
