You have
UBR BUL URF - R2 D' R U2 R' D R U2 R
UBR UFR ULB - A-perms. Note that there might be A-perms on other faces than U.
UBR BUL DLF - R2 D R U2 R' D' R U2 R; very much like the first one, just the D's that differ. But these can be the most tricky, since they can look very different.
UBR DRB ULB - D' R2 D' L2 D R2 D' L2 D2;

But everyone have inverses, mirrors and different cuberotations. I think that it's those that aronpm was talking about. Come up with an example, if you have one, and somebody will show you which of these it is. If I've done it right.

Interesting, completely off topic, R' makes it an 8 Mover, R' D' R insertion, U2 interchange, undo everything, and move cancels. Hmm. First time I actually saw it in use.

(URB DRF BRD)
Try that one out. Blegh.

z' (F' of the cube) then CCW A perm?

Yup :D

And sorry I just chose a random one up there on your site Chris.

That's fine, my reply was literally what my thought process would be when I see that case. I don't immediately recognize what I see, viewpoint shift *BAM* Oh that's an A perm!

I'm learning how to recognize the cases from different sticker rotations (like recognizing your original case directly) but I'm not there yet. Even today I still viewpoint shift on these types of corner cycles. Viewpoint shifting takes no more than a second or two with practice. It's better to take the second to viewpoint shift for me than to sit there and try to recognize the case for 5-6 seconds.

Though, ideally, we should both be recognizing the cases from the angle presented without using this.

I found htis first time! :D :D
Not an A9..but I'll continue working on it!
Note I'd do rotations in real solve
L to setup
U2 interchange
B' D2 B insertion
U2
B' D2 B
L'

Time for round 2 at it. Very very happy I found this try #2 in hopes for a cancellation.
L2 D L' U2 L D' L' U2 L'

YESSSS!. I had the case setup from my previous try so I kinda cheated in the sense that I had visual help..?

EDIT-MOAR! :)

While the first quiz is going on too, here's a more accurate one to what a real solve would be like.

Here is a list of 5 cycles. I will tell you that this list contains anywhere from 0 to 5 cases that are move optimal with an A9 algorithm. Find as many as you can / all of them, and no I won't tell you how many there are in the list. This is open for anyone to try, but please put your answers in spoilers.

1) UBR -> FLU -> LFD
2) UBR -> FLU -> BLD
3) UBR -> DBR -> BLD
4) UBR -> DBR -> FLU
5) UBR -> BUL -> UFL

Happy hunting :)

My solutions:

1)
2)
3)
4)
5)
R2 setup. F2 interchange. R' B2 R insertion. Undo F2. Undo R' B2 R. R'. Again, ONLY because I had visual help! <_<

I hopefully hope to have these done..but I think the only reason I got the last A9 is because of visual help, and I know how that particular OLL worked...

My solutions:
1) 9 moves: D' F2 D' B' D F2 D' B D2
2) 8 moves: F R' F' L2 F R F' L2
3) 10 moves: U' L B2 L' U L U' B2 U L'
4) 9 moves: D' R2 D' L D R2 D' L D2
5) 9 moves: R2 F2 R' B2 R F2 R' B2 R'

Well, that was a lot harder than I thought it would be. 2) through 4) were done with visual help, and 5) was the only one that I got fast enough to honestly use in a solve. Fun, though!

EDIT: I tried a corners-only BLD right after this and immediately found an A9! :D

Chris, would you consider it cheating if I had someone (Eric for example) setup the case and hten me visually solve it? Just going off the stickers is too hard for me to visualize.

That's weird. I think most of us do it better just visualising the cycles rather than actually solving the stickers. Whether it's cheating or not, I suggest you not get used to solving by looking at the stickers

1) z'x' RD2R U' R'D2R U R2 (A9, optimal 9 moves)
2) x UR'U' L2 URU' L2 (pure, optimal 8 moves)
3) x'y' R'F U2 F'RFR' U2 RF' (cyclic shift, optimal 10 moves) [ x2z' U2 R'U2R' D RU2R' D' R2 U2 non-optimal (speed optimal) 11 moves ]
4) z' R'U2R' D RU2R' D' R2 (A9, optimal 9 moves)
5) x' R2 D2 R'U2R D2 R'U2R' (A9, optimal 9 moves)

EDIT: I am approaching 1000 posts and I have nothing prepared for it :/

I've been having trouble with this center commutator for 4x4: Ubl -> Ful -> Bur

I think what I ended up resorting to was Rw' U [U2, b u' b'] U' Rw

I was so confused, I'm not sure.

The U2 and U cancel, but this commutator seems both awkward and it took me ages to find. What would you guys use for this cycle?

Off the top of my head, I did this. First thing I found, and I like it. Yay for Daniel teaching me center comms <3.

U2 (setup)
l' U2 l
u2
l' u2 l
u2
U2 (undo setup)

Want an explanation on how I found it?
