It sounds like you have more experience than I do. Sorry I can't help much more, good luck in your endeavors.

So both of my successes occurred whilst listening to Cello Suites. Coincidence?

Apposed to comms vs M2/OP how much time could be saved in a ..~11 or 12 cube multi with the differentiating methods?

Any real BH edge tutorial besides Chris's page? I remember seeing a BH edge thread ..I think? Looking now..

im just starting 3x3 bld and for memorizing, making a story is probably the best way, right? so what words can use for when you have a yellow green piece or really anything with yellow. "y" doesnt make it easy to use...

Pick any abstract letter, and always use it for yellow. For example, because yellow in French is "jaune" I would use use either J or Y for yellow, whichever was easier.
But, it's much better (and easier) to assign a letter to every sticker on the cube, and use letter pairs. You're memorising only half as much.

In the BH edges thread earlier only 8 9 and 10 movers are given.

Any help on how to identify if it's an 8 move, 9 or 10? I noticed in the 10 mover example, two were on the same plane and hte 3rd was close by making it awkward/impossible for a 3 move insertion.

Great tutorial Chris, minus recognition help :).

I think edges should be easier? By the looks of it.

Although I understand comms this time so I guess that makes it easier this time around.

Edit-And this question :). http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/s...estion-thread.&p=546283&viewfull=1#post546283

Depends on how fast you can perform your comms or how fast you execute M2/OP. In multi you're generally turning slower to be safe, so I guess lower move count algs would save some time (~10s per cube?), but still probably not much. I don't do multi though so I'm just assuming all this.

Also you don't wanna use pure BH for edges, a lot of the optimal algs are pretty crap

I don't plan on doing optimal for every case, I don't plan on being a big big cube BLDer so speed optimized seems the way to go for me. Just not sure about how to go learning this stuff. It's only 8/9/10 movers, seems simple enough...though unsure of how to differentiate the cases.

You can recognize them the same way as for corners. There are still drop and catch cases, still A9 cases, still toss up cases. If you're not going move optimal then I imagine all of the "wide setup into a XXXX" cases will just be 10 movers for you. Basically, for edges lots of things are 10 movers, there are some 9 movers and 8 movers as well.

If you plan to optimize with half slice-plane algs then you'll probably get lots of 7 movers and 5 movers as well.

Look for the interchangeability and insertion the same way you would for corners. Edge recognition is actually a lot easier than corner recognition because each edge only has 2 possible flips instead of 3.

Of course :) But do you consider yourself using pure BH, Chris? I remember you saying you use U perms too

Yes I do use U perms on 3x3x3, so yes I don't use pure BH edges for that puzzle. But, even factoring that in for the U perm cases means I am still using approximately 95-97% pure BH edges algs (including some other cases where I use a sub-optimal move count, or speed-optimal algs).

Ryan, if you ever want to learn BH edges hit me up, I know all the edge-cases (100%) and alot of them speed-optimized.

Skype whenever, just let me know.

Well I have been itching to start BLD for some time now. Unfortunately I also have the sort of personality that has to be well prepared for everything so have been spending some time creating Roman Rooms, PAO and LP lists and cube letter locations. I do not want to prepare a memorisation technique that will not scale to larger cubes or multi BLD so know the work I am putting in now will be worth it in the end. I have been practicing Classic Pochmann execution and setup moves utilising Ja, Jb, T, and T(with orient) for edges and Y and Jb for edges but want my final memo methods sorted prior to doing full solves and get too addicted :)

I like the idea of PAO with Roman Rooms and feel it would form a great basis for my strengths of memorisation.

Anyone have any thoughts or experiences of a combined LPL/PAO list. Yes, it requires learning over 1500 associations but I am more than willing to take this on if it will be better in the long run.

EDIT: My LPL list to date is all objects anyway so I could complete the 'O' of 'PAO' to then use whilst I create the persons and actions over a longer period of time.
