I average 23-27 seconds
My times are like this:--
Cross --2-6 seconds
F2L--10-15 seconds
LL-- 8-12 seconds

What can I do to break sub-20. I've been at it for a month now but I can't seem to get it.Please help.

work on cross a lot. try to plan it in inspection and use 8-10 moves on average. watch example solves by fast people to see how to build better crosses.

also learn full PLL and start OLL if you haven't already.

Yeah try to improve cross and be at least x2 neutral. Make sure you can plan at least 3/4 of your cross (preferably all). Do some solves with unlimited inspection time and plan as far ahead as you can.

Once you get good try to develop the ability to tell which F2L pairs would be good to track while doing cross (doing cross blind will help with this).

Also, your LL seems a bit slow. Try to improve your tps for that section by drilling the algs and try to predict what case you will get for OLL or PLL and just work on recognition relentlessly.

I average around 25 seconds and i just got a 14.73 single. It was an extremely easy cross and good f2l OLL skip and a y perm. Is that good? I've been cubing for 5 months and I've gotten approximately 8 sub 30 singles. Also any tips to get sub 20? Would learning full pll help? Btw i already am learning full pll i currently know 12 or 13 of them. I use intuitive f2l but should I learn some algs for hard cases? Thanks for helping! if you do...

It'll help. Full OLL too. Try to lookahead, maybe start being CN for easier (x)crosses. Practice!

I have problems in executing G perms because the u turns feel really awkward to me.I tried becoming dual colour but it didn't help me and took a lot of time.I'LL work on my cross.Any suggestions for tutorials on cross and/or PLL execution?

Hey guys, it's me again.
So last time, I didn't get any replys and I really need you guys' tips to improve. So I hope this time a few people will reply :)

Times and scrambles:-
1) (15.40) D2 L2 U2 B2 L2 D' B2 R2 D' B2 R2 F L' F2 R2 D B' F2 D B'
2) [18.66] B2 R2 U' F2 L2 U2 R2 L2 D' F2 U' L U2 L2 B' L D' B2 F' U' B2 D2
3) 18.24 B2 L2 U B2 U2 F2 L2 D R2 L2 U2 F U R B U' B2 D' R' B' F U'

5) 17.02 D' B2 U R2 U R2 U' R2 U' F2 U B R L2 F2 R U R U B2 U2

So I've been trying to look ahead recently and I have learned a few OLLs. Any tips are appreciated :D

I'm a bit slower than you so, take my advice with a grain of salt.

There are still some noticeable pauses during F2L, maybe you still go a bit too fast to be able to maintain your lookahead. Transition from F2L to OLL seems very good and TPS during OLL looks good also. Maybe you should now start to learn more and more 1L OLL. PLL recognition is not as good, though. Maybe you would benefit of learning 2-sided PLL recognition and also execution of some PLLs was not on par with OLL so maybe also drill your PLLs and look for good fingertricks or try new algs, etc. That's all I can see.

Of course lookahead could use some work, and keep learning the OLLs. Also as mafergut says try to drill your PLLs.
And BTW I am a sub 15 solver.

Thank you so much both of you guys! I used to think that my PLL was very good, but now that you 2 have told me that it is not that good, I'll work on that :D. And yeah, I'll keep learning and drilling the OLLs and PLLs. And hopefully I'll upload another video with really slow turning and probably not post it in the forums so you guys please check out the video and tell me if my look-ahead has improved in a week's or two time. Thanks again!

At this speed you should be able to sub-2 most if not all your PLLs. I cannot do it with all of them, by the way :( Nasty Ns, V and others refuse to get sub-2 :p

I would say cross is okey. Learn OLL and work much on F2L efficiency, TPS also maybe try CN... xcross is good idea too.

IDK if it's called xcross, but I've been trying to a track pair when there is an ez cross. I don't really want to become CN unless I really don't improve after a fixed time. Oh, and yeah, slow turning(like really slow) has dropped my times a LOT. I just finished my ao50, and it was a sub-18, so really thanks for your tips :tu

Questions I have

Hi everyone! I'm an intermediate cuber and I've known how to solve the cube for about 2 or 3 years now. I'm just now deciding to learn the Fridrich method. I have F2L down and it's getting pretty easy however I do not use algorithms when I do it. I'm trying to learn 2 look OLL and PLL as well but I keep getting confused when I get in certain situations with the last layer. Does anyone have any tips/suggestions? How long did it take you guys to get 2 look down (if that's what you use/used). Also,I seen people talking about not learning the algorithms for 2 look OLL and PLL. How would that work?? I'm sorry if these questions may seem stupid or confusing but I'm somewhat new to the Fridrich method. If anyone could answer these questions and/or give some tips, I'd be so thankful.

Just to clarify, are you trying to learn a 2-look last layer (1 look OLL + 1 look PLL) or a 4-look last layer (2 look OLL + 2 look PLL)? It wasn't totally clear from the way you worded it.

A 2LLL requires learning a lot more algorithms. Most beginners to CFOP learn a 4LLL first, which only requires you to learn 16 algs:
- 3 edge OLL's (2 adjacent edges, 2 opposite edges, all 4 edges)
- 7 corner OLL's (sune, antisune, headlights, chameleon, pi, H, bowtie)
- 2 corner PLL's (I use T perm for adjacent, and Y perm for opposite)
- 4 edge PLL's (clockwise U perm, counterclockwise U perm, H perm, Z perm)

I'm still a beginner and just went through learning all this a few weeks ago, so I do have a few recommendations. Start slow and learn easier / more useful stuff first. I figured you have to do one of 2 different corner perms in almost every solve, so I started with T perm and Y perm. Next I learned the edge OLL's since there's only three of them, and they are very short algs.

Next I learned the edge PLL's. They are pretty easy because H and Z use M-slice algs, which sets them apart a bit and makes them easier to remember. Ua and Ub aren't too bad because one is the inverse of the other.

Finally the corner OLL's are very trigger heavy (lots of R U2 R', R U' R', and sexy moves) so if mentally group the moves into sets of triggers they are a little easier to learn. I learned one per day / every two days until I got all 7 down. The amount of practice time you have will determine how long it takes.

Again, assuming you are asking about 4LLL, I've found that the OLL cases are very easy to recognize because you only have to look at the U-layer to know what to do. The PLL step is where recognition becomes a little bit trickier. For corner PLL I look for "headlights" or 2 corners that show the same color on the same face. If I have headlights on one side but the other sides are not permuted correctly, then I know I need to do a T perm. I turn the U layer to get the unsolved adjacent corners on the right side, and then do the alg. If I don't have any headlights, then I just do a Y-perm. You don't need to turn the U-layer to set up the Y perm in this case, but once you get better you can figure out how to turn the U layer before a Y-perm to look ahead to the edge PLL.

Once I get to the last few turns of my corner PLL, I'm starting to look at the last layer edges to see what I have. It would be a lot to explain in this already long post, but you can start to recognize what edge PLL to use just by looking at the last layer from 2 sides, maybe 3. From there, practice and familiarity with the arrangement of colors on the cube will help you improve.

Hope all this helps

Do I need to learn all the OLLs for sub-20? I'm trying to improve my cross but nothing seems to work.My PLL execution is pretty slow too.(up to 6 seconds) Any links for tutorials on Advanced Cross and PLL execution?
And- is it necessary to be dual / full colour neutral? Because it doesn't seem to be worth doing, seeing as only one or two moves are saved being colour neutral/ dual colour.
