This is probably why from my experience, higher viscosity is less gummy, because it's is that thick that when you turn a face, the particles of lube on one side don't have time to attract the ones of the other side, but if the lube is too liquid I feel it becomes gummy since attaction happens much faster ( or say u'd need to turn much faster not to feel it ). Also, you need to be extra careful with higher viscosity since a drop too much can be dramatic.

I find this is the case for me too. My WeiLong and ZhanChi both seem to be much faster and less gummy with 50k (completely cleaned & relubed) rather than 30k. Anybody else with the same experience?

I tried putting izo lube on the pieces of my weilong instead of 50k and I have to relube the pieces every few hours (doing ao100s and stuff). I prefer 50k just because I don't have to relube as much and IMO it's faster with 50k traxxas than whatever viscosity izo lube is (5k or 15k or something).

Fangshi Heavy weight (5) lubing help?

Hi! I just got my Fangshi, bright stickers and weight 5 silicon lube from htttp://www.thecubicle.us/
I don't plan on lubing the pieces since its a weight five high viscosity, but lubing it like CrazyBadCuber lubes his cubes in this video around 5:07 - 13:00 with weight five slow the cube down? Should I break the cube in? Should I NOT lube it with level 5? Please help me out, it's my first time lubing and I don't want to ruin my Shuang ren like I did my old cube.

The Cube is a Fangshi Shuang Ren.

I lubricated my Fangshi core using his method as well. I used Lubix lubricant, which I believe is slightly less thick than the weight 5 you currently have. This being said, I think wt 5 would be fine on the core...maybe if you used a slightly smaller amount than what he does.

I would not recommend lubing the pieces with that lubricant, however, you can try it out and see if you like it. You can always go back with a towel and wipe off most of the wt5 lube and relube it with thinner stuff if you so choose later on. The weight 5 will in no way hurt your cube or the pieces, so trying it out might be a good thing to get a feel for the different weights.

By the way does turning the Fangshi give you the chills (like a marker scratching on rough cardboard)?

Hi, I use a Dayan Guhong V2 that I have bought online. It's been broken in and slightly modded, but I feel it is under-performing a bit. I believe this is because I use CRC 808 silicone spray. I live in New Zealand, so it was the only available lube offline. Right after it's lubed, it becomes great. However, after a while it feels like it has dried up and performance/speed decreases a little (harder to turn). Nobody around me has a proper cube, so I don't know how it should feel. I have recently been looking into Traxxas 50k Differential oil on Ebay. Will the traxxas significantly change how my cube feels? If so, how? Also, will fully taking my cube apart and spraying it with the spray make it better than just popping out a piece and spraying it in? Also, this last question doesn't fit in this thread, but I have recently noticed that all the stalks on my centre pieces are cracked. Is this just on my cube, and will it affect the performance?
Fully disassemble the cube and pull the center piece out a bit until you see the spring and spray the lube into the spring, and the reassemble the cube and just before putting the last edge back on just put a drop of the lube or a quick spray to the core, that would be perfect lubrication..! Even I have a GuHong V2 and have done the same to my cube with Polydimethyl Siloxane(commonly known as Silicone Spray) and it just turns great. Hope this helped..

How to Lubricate a 4x4 cube. I tried a video and now my AoSu is slower. I use 50K diff oil, so how to make the slow cube fast again??

Sounds like you overlubed it and now it's too gummy. Try disassembling half of the cube, clean it thoroughly, and putting it back on. This way, you'll end up with half the lube you started with.

Anyone else feel the lube getting all over the surface of the cube when you lube it the crazybadcubers way? It makes the cube feel all sticky and disgusting on the surface. Is there any other effective ways to lube the cube without getting this effect?

Also, I've tried both assorted silicone lube weight 2 and 3 on my cubes and it does make my cubes smoother, but only ever so slightly. And it doesn't really make my cube any faster, just a tiny noticeable difference, but not enough to make the cube really fast.

I'm thinking about getting lubicle (maybe lubicle speedy too) and maru lube on my next order. What other lubes would you guys suggest?

Personally I like the Weight 2,Weight 3, and Weight 4 Assorted Regular Silicone Lube from The Cubicle. I usually lube the core with weight 4 and the pieces with weight 3, It seems to work good on 3x3's. For anything higher than a 3x3 I usually use the weight 4 on the core and weight 2 on the pieces to make it faster.

I think we may have mentioned this before but most agree that crazybadcuber's/Lubix's lubing method is pretty overkill, you only really need maybe half that amount if that generally. Although I do follow his guidelines just because I like gummier cubes and also because they're really nice when you break them in, for most people it's way too much.

Honestly the way he teaches has been flawless for me. Do an ao50, you won't have to lube again for a long long time.

Yeah I personally like it but most people I know find it doesn't work for them but IDK, guess it might depend partially on the lube you use. Oddly enough with Lubix it seems to work fine but with wt 3 it seems way too much to me.

If youre putting so much lube that some of it gets on the stickers, you're overapplying. CBCs method is great when used correctly. When I lube the pieces I put only 1 small bead on the last edgepiece on F2L and 1 little bead on the last corner piece you put in the LL. Then you just work it in. All cubes should feel horrible right after lubing if you use diff oil because it needs some breaking in to even out. Diff oil as a substance is like a glue until you spread it around thinly enough.
