Actually, in my experience lubing the ShuangRen does actually slow it down...

It might respond better to lower-viscosity lubes though (I'm using Calvin's High Viscosity and Lubix)

Imo 50k (aka lubix aka calvins high viscosity) is too viscous for 3x3s, not to talk about cubes like the Fangshi shuangren that has gaps that collects the lube. It doesnt slow down smooth surfaced cubes like the dayan because the lube disperses on all surfaces easier and more evenly. The viscosity affects how well the lube disperses on the pieces, which is why you'd use low viscosity on big puzzles with a lot of pieces. In the end the product is the exact same whether it is high or low viscosity. If you put high viscosity in big cubes the lube wont disperse but rather "glue" the light and small pieces it did find and leave the rest of the cube dry. If you put low viscosity in a small cube the lube will just flow through and pour out from the gaps.

And tbh maru on anything smaller than 4x4 is stupid and a waste. It will make a 3x3 uncontrollable and most of the lube will pour out anyway. Just because maru makes the cube fast does not mean it makes the cube good. I thought the introduction of WeiLongs made this clear. I'd say there are very few cubers on this earth that have a TPS to match a speedcube 3x3 lubed with maru.

Wt 1 will lube anything well. It works well on 3x3s too.

As I said, all differential oils are made from the same stuff. Obviously the direct effect is the same. What matters is how it disperses and how long it lasts. What also matters how much you need to lube a cube. I'd say wt 1 is way too runny for a 3x3. A wt 3-4 would disperse much better.

I disagree. I like instant results from lube.

I had a stickerless ZhanChi that I lubed with Traxxas 50k as per CrazyBadCuber's video- it always felt a little too gummy to me. I'm ordering a new ZhanChi, this time black and DIY. I want this to feel much less gummy. Would lubing the edge and corner pieces less help the cube to be less gummy? Also, I'm getting a MoYu WeiLong. Do most people lube that? Thanks!!

Just wipe the extra lube off to make it less gummy. Or just solve it again and again until the lube wears off. The weilong is a very good cube from what I've heard.

thats weird i thought some guy in a thread said that a subsitutute for lubix is 50 k diff oil.
