^ Neat, seems like there's nothing coconut oil can't do.

I quit using Maru. I have a full unopened bottle of it but it doesn't last long and it seems to make the internals of the cube dirty much quicker.

For any cube that I solve on regularly I just lube the core with Cubicle wt 5 (sometimes wt 4 for notoriously slow cubes, i.e. TangLong), mostly to get rid of spring noise. I completely wipe off the pieces and apply just a little bit of wt 3 or wt 2 to a couple of the points where the pieces mesh.

That approach has been working well so far for me.

I have a Weilong V2 and a YJ Sulong.
Usually I don't spend money on lubes, cuz I don't ha much of it,and just lube it with vaseline or something.
People who say vaseline 'destroys ' the Cube are right in a way. What it actually does is remove a very thin layer of plastic from the cubies, reducing friction. So if used excessively, like every week, it will destroy it. But if used carefully, once every month, nothing 's likely to happen to it.
My Sulong and Weilong are perfectly fine after around 2 years of usage(maybe less)

So recently I got maru lube. It worked great for a day or two, then it lost its effect. But my Cube was certainly affected in the long term by Maru, just slightly so I could notice the difference. So I apply maru every month, otherwise it's just a waste.

Then one day I ran out of vaseline and maru both.
I decided to experiment. I wanted to try cooking oil,but I couldn't find the damn thing.
So I took some coconut hair oil,and applied a few drops, just like with Maru.
It worked magically. My Cube felt better than my friends Aolong lubed with lubix. It didn't lose its touch until a month.

So my new favourite lube is coconut hair oil. It's too cheap and works too well, and lasts long.
Perfect.

I'll try it!! :)

Please can you answer this question: How can I make my cube to move slower because its a bit too fast for me. I need static friction to be high an dynamic friction to be low.
I lubed a few times with silicone lube, but thats making it faster and I dont need that. Other solution than Calvins lube weight 3 [I cant buy one], does exist?

Yep , I will also try coconut oil. It is very good if it works !! I will just first try it on the Rubik's cube as it can also make it bad. but i certainly think it will make it better. You should also do the rubiks branded cube first just to check if coconut oil is good or not!!!

I put a little in my VERY STIFF rubik's brand cube and it turns very smooth. I didn't expect it to turn that good. I had put rice bran oil before without taking the cube apart. But this time I took out one edge piece, put one or two drops of coconut oil, put the edge piece back in. Then,WOW! It was turning so smoothly. But still, since it is a rubik's branded one, it still locks up. I think I might give it a try on my ZhanChi. I'll let you know of the results!!! :D

Ok ! Eager for the results .. :)

I'm new to speedcubing in general, and Cubicle silicon seems like the best option for me. From what I've seen, you should have 2 different lubes, one for the core and one for the pieces. Is this always true, or just for certain applications? I like for my cubes to be snappy, but controllable, so what weight should I get?

It is said that you should use higher weights for the core and lighter weights for the pieces. Basically, the weight means its viscosity. So, if you apply lubes of higher weights the cube will be slower but controllable (mainly for cubes that are too fast) and lubes of lower weights will be more runny and make the cube faster. I haven't tried any of the lubes though. This is only stuff I've read somewhere. Hope this helps and I want to try them too. Maybe in the next three months, I may. :)

Everything said is true

Would it be practical to just use a medium-weight lube on everything to save money and the hassle of doing 2 lubings?

But, in your experiment, you said that it makes the cube slower after sometime. So I haven't tried it yet. And I don't know if I should. :/
Seems Indians are the only ones who want to save money. Smart.
I'll say you should. Vaseline will make it slower ,after about ten years or so,but I don't know about hair oil.
I don't think there's any component in it that can damage it. It doesn't damage hair, how in the world will it damage a plastic cube?:p . My Weilong and Sulong are still awesome. I've been using it for 4 months, I guess . I reapply every month. Watch tutorials on how to lube with Maru, and do the same thing.
It's effect is better seen on blocky cubes ( Sulong) than on buttery cubes( Weilong) . But the effect is easily visible in both.
I still tease my friend about finding a cheaper and better lube than him.( he uses Lubix)
Try it guys. It's magical. Not like unicorn blood. It's like Pizza. Try it once. You'll want it again and again.

I dunno about it.. Tried it on my Rubiks and it made it a little fast but i am Still worried about trying it out on Zhanchi ...

P.s : where do you live ?

I used to put this in my cubes -
