No problem. I saw that vid too: paradox cubing right? I asked on the cubicle's thread and they said speedy is faster and more runny than w1.

I have only tried thecubicle wt3 and it is a bit too sticky for me. Thinking about getting either wt 1 or wt 2. Not sure if wt 1 is gonna be a tad too fast for me but wt 3 is definitely sticky.

Exact same thing happened to me..

It's not that I'm complaining as it gives a lot more control but it also makes you use a lot more force when turning and, I'm sure, it would be a problem for sub-10 but I don't have to worry about that yet :) In fact I think I'm a bit faster with wt 3 than with Maru because of the added control.

I'm wondering if there is a lot of difference between wt 3 and 2 or if I should go directly to wt 1. If I can't have a good answer to that, next time I order stickers I will get one of each. Too costly to order from Spain to TheCubice to risk chosing wrong again.

Correct :) would it just be smarter to buy the lubicle stuff over the weighted then? Or get a couple of the weighted. If i wanted to slow down the cube just a little bit i'd put in weight 3 and if it needed to be faster weight 2? I feel like i dont need to speed my cubes up a ton with weight 1. But you guys said that weight 3 is sticky... Also im planning to buy a yulong or chilong with this lube. and i wanted to slow down my aolong v2 a tad bit.

I'm checking prices in TheCubicle and Lubicle silicone is 3 times more expensive than TheCubicle's ($10 for a 5cc syringe opposed to $3.89) so, unless somebody tells me that the difference in prices is worth it (quality & durability-wise), I think I will get one of each (wt 1 & wt 2) from TheCubicle brand, just to stay on the safe side. Currently I have (appart from the already mentioned wt3) also wt5, which I have used to lube the cores of several cubes already with very good results.

I am assuming that the silicone syringes, if correctly closed and stored can last for years so, even if wt1 is too fast for me now I will use it in the future, I hope. And if not, 3-4 bucks is not a big loss.

Answering more directly to your question, if you don't want your cubes too fast I'd say you can go with wt 2 or 3 but it depends on how fast you are. As we were discussing, I find wt 3 a bit sticky and I average 21-22 seconds but it also depends on personal preferences and the amount of lube you put (too much = gummy).

Well thats funny i average the exact same time. I feel like i have a rough turning style but that just might be my aolong being to fast for me. Somethimes it locks up wheni try to turn to fast cuz of over turning. I was goin gto buy a chilong or yulong to better be able to fit the speed i want to go at. Because it becomes clumsy and i want more control. Also why i want to lube my aolong, to give it control. i already have a lube for the core. when i put it in the pieces it is fast until it get older. maybe a week. and it becomes WAY to slow, so the lube i have must be a higher weight.

Hi, I put vaseline in my yulong and now its terrible, and very very slow. What should I do? My parents will not let me buy another cube...

If it is stickered (which I bet it is) do not get water on the stickers. VERY carefully wash each piece thoroughly. Even the springs and screws (and washers [but don't lose them])

Well... This might be a little late, but do not lube your cube with vasaline!!! XD
But anyway, just clean it out and it should be fine if it hasn't been in there for like a month or something. If you can't get any silicone based lubricants or cube lubricants or differential oil or something, you're better off using no lubricant at all until a time where your parents are willing to buy some.

Edit: Have you ever been to competitions and stuff? Parents tend to be more supportive of getting stuff when they see cool cubing community stuff like that.

Guys, why does my Maru lube wear out in 1 day on my AoLong V2? Is it cos of the glossy plastic? I don't know... I do quite a lot of solves though; 100~300 isn't uncommon.

It's maru, that's why. It doesn't last very long and you need to re-apply it very often, no matter what cube you lube.

It's normal and, in my experience, the more you use it the less it lasts. Probably because of the dried residue that accumulates on the pieces, mixed with residue of the plastic that wears off due to friction. You can clean the pieces and put the cube back together and probably it will last at least a couple of days after that but not much more, and the cleaning also has the benefit that the cube will be smoother.

I have been doing this for some time and, in the end I got tired of it and I have changed to silicone lube.

Why do some people love Maru lube? This seems like such a hassle, and annoying to use.

Well, Maru is fast. When just applied the cube flies. And it is also very easy to apply so, even if you have to do it almost every day it is not a hassle at all. To apply silicone you have to dismantle the cube, etc. which takes at least 15-20 minutes.

Once you've lubed the springs and core, that lasts for ages. So after the initial time when you have to dismantle the cube, on subsequent times, using silicone oil, you only have to pop off a couple of cubies and work it in. No need to dismantle every time.

Yeah, that's what I've started to do. Lube the core (I use weight 5) and take the opportunity to lube the pieces as well. And you're right, after the first time you only need to apply a little more in a couple of pieces and let it spread. Unless you want to clean the plastic residue after some time, but that is the same problem with Maru. Taking all this into account I decided that Maru was not such a good lube for me any more but for someone that is not going to lube the core I can understand the ease of use, compared to silicone. That the point of view I was trying to portray in my other post.

By the way, I have not yet come to the point where I have to re-lube any of the cubes I lubed with silicone. How long does it last more or less? You seem to have more experience than me in that regard. Thanks!

I have only tried thecubicle wt3 and it is a bit too sticky for me. Thinking about getting either wt 1 or wt 2. Not sure if wt 1 is gonna be a tad too fast for me but wt 3 is definitely sticky.

Sorry to quote my own post. I have ordered TheCubicle weigth 1 and 2 (still on their way) but, as I do more and more solves with my Chilong lubed with wt 3 it is becoming a bit less sticky to the point to be almost good for me. Not sure if I put a tad too much lube or it is just spreading better as I do some hundreds of solves.

I think weight 2 is gonna have the perfect density for me. Will tell you when I try it.

Also, does anyone know if ambient temperature has an impact on stickyness? I mean, now it's winter here. Will my cube feel faster during summer with the same density lube?
