Lunar and stardustSo I've been using my MGC 5x5 for a good two years now. However, ever since I set it up for the first time, it has been overly slow for my liking, especially in the inner layers. Since then, I have tried cleaning it out and setting it up with different lubes, yet it remains to be quite slow. Btw, lubes I used were silk and dnm I believe. Ultimately, I would like the cube to go back to how it felt OOTB, as I have tried other's MGCs at comps and they are considerably faster than my own, and at this point all my other cubes are faster. any ideas/lube setups I could try to speed it back up would be appreciated, as 5x5 has since become less enjoyable w/ a slow puzzle. thanks in advance
I currently don't have any SCS lubes, just dnm, mystic, silk, weight 5, gravitas... would there be any combination of those lubes that would work?Lunar and stardus
I would say a good cleaning would do first, then weight 5 in the core+tracks, then apply mystic and DNM.I currently don't have any SCS lubes, just dnm, mystic, silk, weight 5, gravitas... would there be any combination of those lubes that would work?
yeah alright. ive tried similar before, cleaning it out and lubing w/ varying amounts of silk and weight 5, as well as dnm. I supposed I maybe didnt clean it well enough howeverI would say a good cleaning would do first, then weight 5 in the core+tracks, then apply mystic and DNM.
Swallowing is not a problem lol. Maybe I’m missing something but how would that happen? If the cube is having a springy creak (spring noise) then get some lube and put a couple of drops on the screw/spring after you take the centre cap off, should work. For lubing, take apart your cube, clean the pieces, do what you want, and then add some drops of lube between the corners and edges and just turn a lot to spread it. For normal lubing, dont clean, just add drops and turn. Make sure not to add too much, start very small, turn the cube to spread the lube and check, and slowly keep adding more until you have the right amount (too much means slippery cube and too much gliding)My Yuxin Little Magic 3×3 creaks when I turn it too fast (it didn't do this when I got it). Should I lube it, do something else, or get a new cube entirely? I don't have any lube (save for a thing of Rubik's brand lube that came with the Rubik's Speed Cube that I got an unknown amount of time ago, which I can't find) and I've never lubed a cube before, and I'm also worried about swallowing lube.
Martian provides the same gummy/smooth feel but is fasterIs there any other lube which is same as silk? Like Weight 5 or something
I have an QiYi MS 2x2 that uses a similar mech, I just loosen it a bit, do a corner-cut and hold that unstable state steady so there is a gap between the edge and the center, grab my lube bottle and stick the tip into the hole (don't get any ideas) and drop some into the edge-center gap. Then break in and you're done.Does anyone have a clue on how to lube a 2x2, without taking it apart? I use a Gan 249 V2. I think other 2x2s, such as the MGC Elite or Gan 251M Air/Pro/Leap have inner edges where you can easily drop some lube in there, but my 249 V2 has hollow edges, aka, I cannot just drop some lube on the edges as you might be able to on other 2x2s, because the lube will just sit there and do nothing. Does anyone have any idea how to go about lubing my 249? Thanks.
