Yeah, there's this other form of silicone that is used for plumbing/sealing things up. It starts as a liquid, then turns into a little bit of a gel thing. It's flexible and gummy. But in a thin layer, I can imagine how it might be good.

The OP is definitely talking about the stuff Stefan put links to

You guys want to know the exact stuff im using, som1 linked to it. Its from yoyoexpert where i ordered it. Its fairly popular among yoyoers, and it doe strt out as a liquid, and turns to a gel. Its nothing likee lubiks though. Its a weird feeling cube when its lubed with it, but i think its amazing. The only problem is what i stated before, you have to clean out all the flakes before it turns good. Anywayz, im down to a new pb of 28.78 single 3x3, and average of 37.32

You can't go wrong with a decent amount of traxxas and then a few drops of maru lube. It'll be smooth and fast and it lasts for a long time (:

CRC'd Zhanchi -- smooth but tacky?

I normally lube my cubes with silicone grease (from Ace Hardware), which I believe is similar to the some of the name brand silcone cube lubes that you can buy in syringes. I decided to try CRC on a new Zhanchi. I put the straw in four different sides, toward the core, spraying maybe a 1/4-1/2 second each. As everyone warned, the cube immediately because very sticky (almost locked) as though I had poured mud or glue in it. But I worked it in and everything loosened up. A day later, it felt smooth but not fast -- the best way I can describe it is "tacky." So, I did another round of CRC this morning the same way. It's now about 8 hours since the last application, and it still has that smooth-but-tacky feel.

Is that normal? Does it go away after working it in more? Do I just need more?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I think you just overlubed your cube.
Best way is to disassemble your cube - wipe out all of lube, wash pieces then reassemble your cube and give like 2-3 sprays most into the cube.

How do you define 'make'? Mixing lubes or from scratch etc? And then what do you mean 'from scratch'? Actual elements or chemicals you buy at the store or actual lubes?

I tried all sorts of disgusting stuff but nothing beats my diff oil CRC mix...

Your cube is so loose you could have sand inside there and it wouldn't slow down :P

I just tried silicone grease, but it's pretty heavy stuff. Besides that I'm using maru lube, they seem to work ok together. Grease works nicely with springs and screws.
Gonna try shock oil as soon I get to buy some.
I used to use crc silicone spray, but stopped using that with guhong and zhanchi as they are pretty fragile cubes.
I even tried some teflon spray thingy, but it was messy and didn't last too long in use.

New Lube for Zhanchi

Hello Everybody...I tried mixing 30K Wt Traxxas Diff Oil and a bit of CRC in a small container, and put it on my Stickerless Zhanchi. I ruined my other Stickerless Zhanchi using pure CRC Silicone Spray, So I was brave to try this!! Mix about 1/6 of a cap-ful of Traxxas Lube with about a one second spray of CRC Silicone Spray and mix it with a q-tip, let it sit for 30 seconds and the apply to edge of cube. Even put it on the core if you want. I tried it and it works GREAT!! I hope you enjoy your Awesome Zhanchi.
