In The World Championships 2013, for Multi-BLD, it says that there is Multi-BLD first attempt on Friday and then Multi-BLD second attempt on Saturday...

What does it mean by this? Do competitors have 2 chances to do the event???

Sorry if this is a stupid Q.........

That's exactly what it means. You get up to two attempts at multi if you want them.

I have recently had my first 3BLD success, but I wrote down the letters on a note app, then looked at them to figure out my memo. I have been trying to do it without writing it down, but have missed by anywhere from complete and utter failure all the way to 3 edges misplaced. I would like to be able to know how to come up with better sentences that are more vivid in my mind.

What I try to do is to come up with sentences that are funny, dirty, disgusting or disturbing :D the more the better... It's easier to remember that way.

Also dont just try to remember the words, but really imagine the story happening and make it a picture in your mind, that also helps a lot.

Thanks for your help. I heard the 3 main emotions/ feelings are happy, fear and love. So maybe I could incorporate that into blind solving.

Also, does anyone know the time limit for a 3BLD solve at a comp.?

Some of my best times, for example where I've gotten sub-6 5BLD and sub-3 4BLD, have been a result of associating some BLD stories with personal memories such as past loves or bastard ex-girlfriends, or even other close/past close relationships. Personal experience is an amazing tool - how can you forget something you memorized years ago?

Off topic, but apparently the brain distorts memories each time it remembers them.

Thank you SO much tseitsei, using memo that I would really rather not go into (lol), I just succeeded for the first time (noteless)

No, not always. I.e., for eye witness testimony, where lots of detail is important under immense stress and pressure, then hell yes, people tend to confabulate. For a relaxed, 'less-important' exercise like BLD memorization (debatable for how good you are or what times you're aiming for but who cares) where you have as much time as you want to visualize everything carefully and vividly, then no.

I mean if someone were to ask you the memo for your BLD PB, unless you did it very recently, you probably wouldn't know (do you?)

Funny how this came about from supporting your point on emotion in memory. The amygdala + limbic system play a role in overall memory. But hey, let's debate.

You're talking about decay/forgetting certain details. I can remember my first 5BLD success because I rehearsed it. If I did the same from my latest 5BLD PB over certain time periods for the next few days/weeks months I will probably remember it forever more with 100% accuracy.

If I incorporate the more basic details of personal experience into BLD memorization, i.e. EX DM BR, an EX DuMping me BRutally, I'm not going to forget this in a hurry.

I think emotions are helpful and being consisttant with actions for images also helps. If you have the time for it, then having the image alter the location is good as well. Things that are gross, lewd, personal and outrageous help. Using other senses can also help. When I think of PY=python, I also have that slimy feeling of snakes. or with food, you can have a craving for it or try to smell it (like pie). Exaggerating things is also usefull. Maskow does quite well with hand motions. This kind of overkill of memo can be helpful to plan before a solve so you are ready to use it quickly when you need to. That just comes with time.

I just attempted to see what I could remember
I decided to try to remember attempts that I have done. I can remember my first 3BLD solve from over a year ago, but I can not remember my 4BLD solves from Monday. Well, I can recall some parts of the 4BLD like ENtei burning BasS and a couple others, but not much. I can remember an entire deck of cards from last Thursday and after a lot of thinking, I still can not reconstruct the memo of some 3BLD from about half an hour ago.

I think the reason why the Deck of Cards lasted as well and long as it did is because I went through it may times during recall which reinforced the imagery. The first BLD solve felt really good and I thought about it over the course of weeks, but I can't remember 3BLD for 30minutes now because I was going for speed and just quickly flash the images and then forget them. The 4BLD was typical for after a couple days. Some things are forgoten slower than others. The reason that Entei probably stuck is because he also burnt the side my garage. and I have not gone over that location again yet.

A question for the fast MBLD and Big BLDers:
What do you guys do when you are reviewing and notice that you forget an image or location?
Do you just rethink of what you forgot or do you try to make the association different/stronger by changing or adding things?
Specifically what would you change?

If I review n-th cube and notice I forgot it, I memorize it again, review it, review (n+1)-th cube and review n-th cube again. In a neglected case I review it again after (n+2)-th cube.

I feel bad for Ollie now. Although clearly you've got some good out of it - top tip for BLDers is clearly now to engage in bad relationships.

Start with BLD

I want to start with BLD solving but which methode should I use?
What is the best methode for beginners?
What is the best methode for speedcubing? (advanced BLD solvers)
