In 5BLD, how do I solve midges without affecting the t centers (or plus centers, or whatever people call them)? I use M2 for 3x3, and the t centers on 5x5 get disturbed when I have to shoot to UF or DB (I use M U2 M U2, and U2 M' U2 M' respectively). So my idea was to use 3 cycle comms for these cases, (e.g if the cycle is buffer (DF) -> UF -> UL, then I would do (L' U2) M2 U' L U M2 U' L' U (U2 L)), but I would really prefer if there were some simple alg just to shoot to FU (I generally mess up such comms)

Either solve midges after centers, or play around with variations of: U2 M D2 M' U2 M D2 M', which is a center safe version of M' U2 M' U2

Ah thanks...that's what I wanted basically I guess...a simple alg for DF -> UF -> UB
Should've figured this out on my own though :/
I don't want to solve midges after centers, because I prefer to memo (pretty quickly) them last (before corners), and solve them first (after corners), so I don't have to keep the memo in my head.

My 3BLD times are usually something between 1:05-1:25.
My memo is 20-30 and execution 45-55 on most of my solves.

So my question is: Is either my memo or execution clearly better/worse than the other? I wanna know what I should be focusing on next...

i was reading a tutorial here on speedsolving for 3BLD. they said when you find the edge that belongs in UR, DO NOT remember UR. my question was when i run into that, what do i do then? do i just choose a random edge i haven't memo'd yet and memo that one and go from there. (PS the tutorial used Old Pochmann)

Yes :) It's called breaking into a new cycle. If you have, for example, (ABCD)(EFGH) you would actually solve (A,BC,DE,FG,HE) with the unsolved piece you've broken into at the end as well. Keep going until you've solved all 12 edges (you should be able to count them as you solve them.)

I am learning BH finally since I'm getting pretty pissed at my execution like 42s with M2/OP, I'm getting the gist of them, pure comms with a setup or so is easy enough like A9's and that, even cyclic shifts are nice to go with but I'm slacking a bit. I have no clue how to deal with per specials and the comms and setups take for ever to figure out, i know people will say stuff like practice makes perfect and that of which i already know and such, what would be the best way for me to figure out each comm and that?

also, noah hurry up with the other 7 parts to your tutorial pree?

I'll make the next two tonight.

The concept of my tutorials is that you don't need to understand any cases except 8, 9 and 10 movers, so it seems like you have a pretty strong base to start from.

I need a better alg for UBL->DLB->FLD.

That's a nasty case. have you already tried
DL2D R D'L2D R' D2
z2 UR2U L U'R2U L' U2 z2
or x2 UL2U R U'L2U R' U2 x2

I like the second one (they are all the same case but rotated)
If you don't like any tell me and I will try to find something better
