Sorry, probably in this thread somewhere. Could somebody explain to me 4x4 bld parity?
I'm trying to use U2 centers, Old Pochmann corners, and r2 edges.

If you're talking about corner parity, you can swap two opposite centers with a T-perm and a PLL parity. For wing parity, the alg:
l' U2 l' U2 F2 l' F2 r U2 r' U2 l2 swaps two opposite wings.

Note that both have to be done after centers are solved because they rotate centers.

So, it's possible to have corner parity and/or edge parity? also, when I get edge parity with r2, DF(right) and UB(right) are swapped. what's a basic setup I can use to be able to use that edge alg you gave me?

Yeah, wing and corner parities are not dependent on each other. And as said above, D' L' F.

And if you happen to end with a 2-swap of edges you could either:
solve the three targets and then aply the "full" parity alg D' L' F parity alg F' L D
or
place the two edges opposite and do the parity alg to save yourself a lot of moves :)

I am trying to get better at one syllable audio pairs so I started to make a list. What I found is that I have used multiple words for the same pairs before making the list. Is it better to stick to one word and drill the list or stick with multiple words that they may sometimes make sense of the audio by sometimes using nouns/verbs.Also,how would this affect my recall?

I am going to bump this because I edited it onto a question, It is now 2 pages back and I would really like some advice on this by the good audio people.

I use audio for edges, but I never made a list. I'm at the point right now where i'm memoing edges in about 7 seconds no matter what and I never forget them, but there was a time when a few pairs that made sense together was a huge boon to my solve. A lot of my pairs have some sort of meaning, but I don't usually have the time to think about what that might be during a solve.

You're right I guess I shouldn't have time to even think about that, but despite all of my efforts my Audio and Image memory is in worse shape than when I just left them alone months ago. The speed is just not there and LSC is now so close. I think I will just try to safty memo my way through 5bld leave everything else I do that day to the rubik's gods.

I'll make a list and drill them

I understand the basics of 3-style edges, but how the hell do i shoot to things in the M slice?

3-style is when you do a set up to FU, do M', undo, and your next target is shot to by doing M correct?

edit : also parity, how do?

3-style is when you use commutators. You have described just one kind of commutator, where the interchange is on the M slice. It would be hard for me to explain in words, but I'll be making a tutorial on it soon. Parity can be done the same way as in whatever method you're using currently.

I'm currently doing pochman corners/m2 edges. I've watched Zane solving what he calls 3-style, and all i see are M' and M slices for the interchange

I think you're talking about his M2 progression video? If you are, you misunderstood him. He was just showing a way of solving basic 3-cycles by using the concepts in M2. Most cycles can't be solved like that.

3-style like Noah has already said, refers to speed-optimal 3-cycles, where you basically have the fastest possible algorithm memorized for each 3-cycle. For example, DF -> FU -> UB with M2 would be done U2 M' U2 M' then M2 and leave 2 flipped edges, when 3-style solvers would probably do y' U [M'] U R2 U' [M] U R2 U2 y, permuting and orienting the edges simultaneously.

There's a clue to the first question - when you're not an M2 out (i.e. you've done an even number of 2-cycles) the algs are:

UF/FU = U2 M' U2 M'
DB/BD - M U2 M U2

When the M-slice is an M2 out, use the opposite algorithms! i.e. DB instead of UF. I'm guessing you already know, but UB/BU are just solved with a M2, plus you'll need to remember which edges are flipped at the end.

Plus here are examples of 3-style algs with both types of interchange:

DF -> FU -> UB = y' U [M'] U R2 U' [M] U R2 U2 y
DF -> UR -> DL = y' U R2 U' [M2] U R2 U' [M2] y

In case you do not like the concept of flipping M-slice edges afterwards:
U / D targets just as Ollie posted
UF = U2 M' U2 M'
DB =- M U2 M U2

F/ B targets: direct solve via commutator with an additional M2 move
FU = D M’ U R2 U’ M U R2 U’ D’ M2
BD = M2 D U R2 U’ M’ U R2 U’ M D’

For BU: you flip it in place, then do the M2 and flip it back
One possible alg: B’ R B U R2 U’ M2 U R2 U’ B’ R’ B
Some people actually flip the buffer piece before the exchange.

Parity for OP / M2: U’ F2 U M2 U’ F2 U
If you solve edges first: just apply the alg after finishing all edges.
If you solve corners first: apply the alg after all finishing corners BUT KEEP IN MIND that your M-slice is now an M2 off. So you have to shoot an M2 off for the M slice targets.

I can't figure out the commutators for certain cases and I'm learning 3-style. any advice????

Not every case has a pure commutator. A lot of the time you'll need a setup move. Try to make your setup moves create an interchange between two pieces. I would be able to help you more if you could give examples of cycles you're having trouble with.

I'm having this problem too. Corners I'm mostly fine with but Im fairly new to 3-style edges and getting stuck a lot of the time. I've been going through the the list @ http://skarrie.se/edges/ Which has helped but there's an awful lot of rotations in those algs, something I'm trying to eliminate in my own solving.

I scribbled up one of my solves to show you guys where I'm at now. There's a lot of edge cases where I just default to Turbo to avoid eleborate setup moves or I just havn't found a way to solve that case that i'm happy with =\ Most notably cases like UF>RB>FR and UF>FD>DB

clicky

What words do you guys use for QA? I'm using Quick Analysis atm and I find it quite weird.

Also, my accuracy on MBLD with even number of cubes are higher than odd number of cubes. E.g I have better accuracy in 4/4 than 3/3, so is 6/6 than 5/5. Is there anyone encounter the same thing? What problem could it be? Is it personal preference/instinct thing?
