Not exactly. I memo which centers are on the U face, then which centers are on the B face, and so on. For each center piece, I simply memo the first letter of the name of the color (In French, with white replaced by black because "blanc" (white) and "bleu" (blue) both begin with a B).

So do you solve centers by visualizing the colours from your memo, picking a commutator and "deleting" 2 letters at a time?

This memo feels fantastic - I can memo full 5BLD centers anywhere between 1:00-2:00 this way! It's just decoding the memo and picking the correct alg that's difficult.

........... say what? i can barely do 4BLD centres that fast!

and as for my moaning about bad BLD'ing, turned out i needed to do a 4BLD to get into the habit of kepping memo without losing it, so i managed to get an average afterwards, 1:44 Ao5, nothing too special but i think i need a new method, i can't find anything good for BH, any pointers?

This is what use right now, 1 move set up to a nice TuRBo alg.

(R) y R' U2 R' D' R U2 R' D R2 y' (R')

Riley, that solves UBL-FUR-LFU, not UBL-RUF-LFU

Mine would be similar to the second alg as [x R U2:R2,UL2U'] since it is a setup to an old 3OP alg I like. I use 11-movers for every cyclic shift now since they always seem faster than the alternative.

Anyway, why do so many people use a UBL buffer? I sometimes feel like a renagade using UBR now and I am suprised it's not more common.

Oh, my bad. And I checked it so many times... Don't know what I was thinking. Anyway you could try this for UBL RUF LFU.

Still a R setup to a TuRBo (or A9 with 1 more setup besides the R)

(R U') R2' D2 R U2 R' D2 R U2 R (U R')

And I recently switched to a ULB buffer so I could transition from OP easier as Noahaha said.

Here is a piece of advice from a former TuRBo user; that alg is a turbo alg. Just use a y to setup and learn the viewpoint shifts of the 9 turbo cases. recognizing the viewpoint shifts of algs in TuRBo saves moves and reduces pauses. Also, Cyclic shifts probably rank as my least favorite algs in all of bh and I am glad they are not too common.

The main difficulty is to keep track of what you've done. I usually solve a whole center, then another one, and so on, so that I can "forget" those centers and concentrate only on the still unsolved ones.

I remember that from judging you on 5BLD at Zune. I thought wtf is he doing?
Could it be that you (sometimes) even start building the centers around the wrong center or is my memory playing tricks on me?

I judged one of his 5BLD solves some months ago too. It's actually not a very odd idea. In this way you have much more center pieces solved beforehand, though you have to switch them later.

Can't seem to find a good tutorial on youtube on 3op, or is 3op just old pochman? I'm not even sure what it is, but iknow it's a method for corners. I'm kinda tired of using pochman on corners after moving on to m2, i want to progress into faster methods

3OP - 3-cycle orientation + permutation. So basically you orient all your corners (and/or edges) first, then set up to an A-perm or U-perm and permute 2 pieces at a time. I solved this way for my very first BLD solves. Clickycoo. I got some sub-1 times with it, but I'm happy I moved on now.

What about R2 for corners? Or be brave and try commutators/BH/3-style

3OP is a method where you orient all of the pieces and then permute them with 3cycles. a common way to memo is to give each piece a number and use visual for orientation. Macky has a tutorial at cubefreak.com and Blah(Chester Lian) has a good post about corner orientation here http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/showthread.php?393-Official-Blindfold-Algorithm-List/page11. you can also use other algs from bh like BLB' R2 BL'B' R2. There are plenty of BH sources on the forum and BH could be a better thing for you to learn since you will be using letters that lend themselves to the letter pair memory methods. BH is quite intuitive which means once you learn a case, it will help you understand numerous cases.

If you have any particular questions, ask away.

BH is more efficent since you don't orient before the cylces;use BH.You should still look into the some of the co cases from blah though since corner twisting is still used for bh if the corner is in place but twisted(or you could use 2 cycles, but that is more confusing to memo or explain). And you don't need to learn BH in full to start using it in solves. Fast cubers like Zane slowly started solving the cases they knew and using OP for the rest untill they knew full BH.

Edit: I reread this and would like to explain I meant two 3cycles and do not want it confused with the piece by piece term for 2cycles. A case where I have to be carefull to say what I mean.
