Hi, I just learned blind a couple weeks ago and I don't really understand how the multi-blind points work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

basically number of cubes you solve minus number of cubes you do not solve
score has to be more than half the cubes solved
shorter time is a decider

Also does anyone know why the scoring works like this? In other memory sports it is just how many items you memorise right. How is 19/20 worse than 19/19?

It's so you can't get an advantage by discarding harder scrambles. 15/20 could mean you submitted 20 cubes then intentionally set aside 5 scrambles you didn't like. 15/15 means you solved even the hard ones so it's fair that it is scored higher.

ah i see, its a good solution

Do fast people use the journey method or rooms for 4 and 5BLD? or is it just for multi?

I currently just memo normally using images/audio.

For 5BLD I memorize wings, midges, and corners in locations, but the locations are just directions relative to me and I don't visualize them very much. I memorize wings in 3 groups that are in front of me, above me, and behind me, I memorize midges to the left of me, and corners to the right.

cool! I'll try that

but how do you remember anything if you don't visualize the images?

I use rooms. Wings and midges in room 1, Centers in room 2 with audio corners. I use journey even for 3bld, it's just a short journey given it's about 4 letter pairs.

How do you use images for 5bld without the journey/rooms method? Just wondering.

I'm not very good at visualizing images (a lot of my letter pairs don't even mean anything...) but it just helps to associate the sentences with a location to remember them

It's kind of like remembering a sentence that happens in a certain location but without visualizing it happening

I just memo pictures for each piece type and link them together somehow

and i also specifically remember the first letter of my memo for midges, wings, and corners to help me get started when i do execution

ok cool. I guess I'll try sentences with locations then

I'm not fast, but here's my $0.02 anyway... I use rooms for BigBLD not just because it helps me remember, but because I can change rooms on each attempt to avoid mixing up memo during a session. I have enough rooms used for MBLD that I can go a whole BigBLD session without recycling.
