Hmm...I did find that The Cubicle sells "Assorted Regular Silicone Lube" for much less. How does it compare with Lubix, and what weight should I get for the same feel.

I believe they use 1-5, instead of 10k-50k, which is the same thing. Most people buy Traxxas 30k-50k, which I guess would be the equivalent of Cubicle 3-5. Lubix is also between 30k-50k (or Cubicle 3-5).

Lubix 10cc is $20.
Cubicle 25cc of 3-5 weight, is $7.
Traxxas 50cc of 30k-50k weight is $6-$7.

You're posting just fine, don't worry about that, and welcome to the forum. :)

First of all, whether the cube feels "amazing out of the box" or not will depend quite a bit on where you ordered it from. A store like thecubicle.us does a lot of setup work on the cube before sending it, while a store like lightake.com doesn't do very much. A cube from thecubicle.us will feel great out of the box, while one from other places might not. (I think this is part of why thecubicle.us is relatively expensive)

Even considering that, it would be surprising for a Shengshou cube to be so stiff you can't turn it, regardless of how it was set up. You should lubricate it and loosen/tighten it to your liking, and if that doesn't fix the problem, find a video on youtube where someone disassembles their Shengshou 5x5 cube and compare the pieces to the ones in your cube, just to make sure that your cube actually is a Shengshou and not a random piece of crap.

For lubricant, a bunch of different things work. One lube that works pretty well is this one: http://thecubicle.us/assorted-silicone-lube-p-61.html You can also find silicone based lubricants at any hardware store.

I lubed a 55mm zhanchi with weight 3, and it's too fast for me to do OH. I put some weight 5 into it, and it's still too fast! Do I just put more weight 5?

I lubed my WeiLong with Traxxas 50k for the core, then used Lubicle speedy on the pieces. After I broke it in I put just a few drops of the Traxxas on top of the Lubicle on the pieces and it is amazing now. So smooth but still very fast. I don't even want to use it because I know that the feeling will go away with time haha. I feel like a faster cuber should have it.

And is Maru Lube supposed to be very watery? I just got mine in a package from the Cubicle with W5 and Speedy and when I put it in my SS 6x6 it was so thin that it dripped/leaked out when I was trying to break it in. And I only put in 4-5 drops. Is this the way that Maru Lube is supposed to be?

Yes.

Yes, Maru Lube is very watery. You only need to put 1 or 2 drops of it into your cube though, not 4 or 5.

So, I tried tightening my Zhanchi to reduce lockups and pops, and it immediately got way worse. I'm no Feliks, but my turning is NOT this bad. The cube has locked up so much and been forced to reverse corner cut too much, and now it already feels every bit as loose as it was before tightening it 24 hours ago. It feels like it's a good speed, but can lack of lubrication cause this? The cube doesn't seem insanely dry or anything, but this is getting ridiculous. Lockups are happening from literally nothing. Do I need to lube it, or just tension it better, or just buy a Moyu cube instead of this ****?

I put extra virgin olive oil in my weilong v2 and its AMAZING. It cuts 70 on some sides and is incredibly smooth and fast. The only one problem is its a bit too fast for me (sub 21.2) but perfect for faster solvers.

I don't think the cube is physically capable to doing that. Maybe you're measuring wrong or turning wrong.
