Hi guys, I plan to make a purchase from thecubicle pretty soon and I would like to get some lube from there as well, but I don't know which one to get.

I want a lube that will last very long, preferably at least a couple months or more. I also want it to make the cube turn really smooth and fast but not make the cube feel gummy.

I'm torn between getting the 100ml maru lube or the lubicle lube.

I've heard a lot of good things about maru lube, but that it doesn't last very long. That you'll have to re apply after a week or two.

As for the lubicle lube I'm not really sure how this lube perform. Does this lube last long and how is the speed after applying it? (referring to the lubicle, and not lubicle speedy and lubicle gummy, since speedy is very runny and the gummy one would make my cubes gummy)

Edit: I think I would prefer the lubicle lube though, since I would want to lube the core and having a syringe will make it easier to apply.

Lubicle is probably what you're looking. It's great quality and lasts quite a while, depending on how well kept your cubes are and how much you practice.

If you're looking for lube that will last you a lifetime, try the 25cc of Weight 3 Assorted Lube. I've had mine for a year, and have only used 10cc of it. It's going to last you a while.

how long does a calvin lube lasts?

Calvin's (High Viscosity) I believe is slightly thicker than Lubix and a 2mL tube has lasted me quite a while. Although I don't use it for much other than core lubing my 3x3's which I don't have many of.

It depends on the amount of lube you use really.

Then again Medium Viscosity is probably a bit runnier and you might use it up a bit more quickly. Generally though silicone oil lasts for a good while regardless.

Well that depends off course on the amount of solves you do in the cube because if you keep your cube in a place to make sure that the lube doesn`t dry fast then you wont have to reaply very often.

More or less how much does it take for the lube to dry off if you do about 80 solves per day?(I always put back in the box when im done playing with it).

Thanks for the reply.

But now I'm torn between Lubicle or the assorted regular silicone lube (weight 3). Is the performance in terms of speed and smoothness similar to that of the Lubicle? If it is I would get the assorted regular silicone lube since it is way cheaper.

The brand pretty much makes no difference whatsoever. It's all silicone lubricant. The only thing that will make a difference is the weight. If you're sure they're the same weight lube, buy whichever is cheaper.

From my experience, the lower the viscosity the gummier you cube will be. In anyway, the point is to put really little lube in it, and to work it out enough so that the lube breaks in properly.

I just received a bottle of 50k traxxas this morning. I quickly put it in my old unlubed zhanchi, it felt so great, better than my current weilong that is lubed with 10k ( and wasn't overlubed ). My weilong felt a little gummy and even though it was really smooth, the initial strength required to make it spin good was quite high. Meaning when doing slow solves, while watching tv or so, it felt kinda stuck. I've now totally cleaned my weilong ( washed it with soap and water ). I'll wait it totally dries while I cook lunch and will lube it later. I'll edit my post to give a feedback, but as far as it went on the zhanchi I have really good hope ! Feels like there's absolutely nothing that slows it down anymore. It's like and ice cube flowing on an ice surface.

My guess is that lower viscosity oils tend to also attract the oil from the opposite surface it slides on. A bit like two drops of water that you put close, they naturally would attract each other and form one. I feel 50k is definitely a good compromise. 30 or 40k might also work good though, at least I guess it'd take less time to break it in the cube.

Ok thanks, assorted silicone lube it is :)

No, the way he puts a whole line on the edge piece is too much. I did that to my cube with 30k lube, and it became super gummy.

Which cubicle weight is closest to 50k?

Besides that lol. He does an excellent job showing how to do the core properly.

Weight 5.

Apparently each 10k is equivalent to 1 'weight' (that doesn't really make sense but meh), i.e 10k = Weight 1, 30k = Weight 3 etc.

Makes sense lol wt1 is 10k, 2 is 20k, 3 is 30k. Just add a zero lol

What should I lube the pieces of my megaminx with, Weight 1 or Weight 4? I want it to feel fast but not gummy. I'm using Weight 5 on the core.
