Not really haha. I personally use 30k and 10k because I like super fast cubes, but most people like 50k.

I see. I've heard some people use higher viscosity lubes for the core and then lower viscosity for the pieces. Is there a reason for you doing that?

Yes. People use higher viscosity in the core because it lasts longer. I don't notice any difference between 30k and 50k in the core, 50k just lasts longer like I said. I use 10k on the pieces, because it's much less gummy. Too much of any Wt lube on the pieces makes a gummy cube, but it happens very fast with 50k on the pieces. Hopefully you can decipher what I'm trying to say here lol

I understand. High viscosity lasts longer - use on core to save trouble

Low viscosity doesn't last as long, but results in a faster cube without as high of a risk of "gumming" up your cube. You can still "gum it up" using low viscosity, there's just a larger margin for error.

Is that what you're saying?

I think the thinner the lube, the faster the Cube.
Is that right?

E.g.: the Cube is faster with 10k lube and Slower with 50k?

I have a problem. My Zhanchi is lubed with 50k lube (both the core and the pieces) and it's almost as fast as my Guhong v2 ( broken in with another lube which came with the cube). So, if I use 10k lube for the pieces, my Zhanchi will become faster? Is it the same if I use a silicon spray?

hey guys,so i just found out from this thread that just maru lube is a big no no.
now i don't have any silicone lube, and i won't be able to get it(for reasons i wouldn't really like to discuss)
is there any way to use maru lube without it leaving marks?

My god. In your last several posts, you just summed up the entire thread. You wonderful person.
Yeah Traxxas 50k is around Lubix, more like 40-45k but about the same. Thick lube lasts longer, good for core. Thinner lube can work better for some people on the pieces for some people. If you want faster cubes, 30k or even 20 or 10k for the pieces, and either 40 or 50k for the core.
I just go for 50k entire cube since I'm not too picky about insanely speedy cubes and don't want to spend the money on two bottles of lube. (I'm a miser)

I would have to completely agree with you on that. And glad I got the main points ;) anyway, This has been helpful. Thank you

Anyone tried Calvin's puzzle medium viscosity lube?

It makes my cube really dirty inside after a few solves. Also, it's really gummy. Am I doing it wrong?
It's just 30k differential oil. It certainly is not making your cube dirty, your cube was dirty before you put it in. The lube just bound all the dirt together. You probably overlubed too, which is why your cube is gummy.

I suggest you clean the cube with paper towels and re-lube it. You only need to put in a tiny bead of lube. Use this guide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4paID_54lQ

I tried this on a brand new cube, and I did exactly as he said.

Maybe less viscous stuff should be added in smaller amounts?

Everything should be added in smaller amounts if you dont want a gummy result. Also you have to break the lube in, its not going to make your cube faster immediately. You need to solve it like 20 times to get it going. The amount you need to put in a 3x3 is 2 tiny beads of lube.

The lube probably had dust in it from shipping/factory etc. I recommend you clean it out and re-lube.

Which syringe is the best and cheapest to get for lubing?
(Preferably from Amazon)

People like Lubix and TheCubicle use 'luer lock' syringes. These have caps which mean you can keep the lube in the syringe. The caps screw off, and you replace them with a dispensing tip.

There are loads of these on Amazon for a few dollars (/whatever your local currency is), just make sure you get a dispensing cap as well.

Alternatively, TheCubicle offer a syringe and dispensing cap for a few dollars... or you can get one filled with lube for 10.

I modded my Shengshou 4x4 V5 a while back and have been trying to use it lately but I can't find a good lube for this cube. Every lube I have tried makes the cube have a really unusual bumpy feel. The closest thing I can compare this to is and over-lubed Huanying. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Which lube from TheCubicle.us is best for lubing big cubes like 4x4 and up? Weight 1-3, Regular Lubicle, or Lubicle Speedy?
