I had a stickerless ZhanChi that I lubed with Traxxas 50k as per CrazyBadCuber's video- it always felt a little too gummy to me. I'm ordering a new ZhanChi, this time black and DIY. I want this to feel much less gummy. Would lubing the edge and corner pieces less help the cube to be less gummy? Also, I'm getting a MoYu WeiLong. Do most people lube that? Thanks!!

About the zhanchi: wipe lube off the pieces, you don't need to unscrew anything. More lube will make it worse. For the weilong, I find it best to lube the core and a TINY amount on the pieces.

Right, I knew that, sorry. I meant to say, would less diff oil have the desired effect of making my cube not so gummy?

Gumminess is usually a result of overlubing so yeah, if you put less, it should feel better. You really have to put a very minimal amount. Try putting a tiny bead of lube in and work it. If its not enough, add another tiny bead. Do this until you figure out how much lube suits your cubing style the best. The gummy feeling happens when the lube sticks to the surface and grinds against another lubed surface. This creates a gummy friction.

Maru is too runny for 3x3 cubes and it wears out very fast. Maru is generally used only on bigger cubes as steroids before competitions and such, because it makes the cube very fast but wears out quickly.

So is it a waste if i use maru lube on my 3x3 ? What is a good lube and last long for a 3x3 ?
