It's all the same stuff in different packaging. There are differences with viscosities but most that only have one option probably try to imitate lubix which would be 40-50k wt diff oil.

The lighter/thinner/less viscous the oil is, the faster it wears out.

Ok. So which weight would be closest to izo lube? Also, about how much would a 3x3? How many cc's? Trying to figure out how much to get.

I havent tried izo but I'm guessing it's made for 3x3s which means min 35k max 45k. You can use the approximations used by lubix, its more or less accurate. I find they are a bit too generous though, so get more than the exact amount the lubix approximations guide you to get. According to lubix 10cc = 60 cubes.

I bought a 4cc of lubix quite a long time ago (before christmas thats for sure) and I just finished it a week or two ago.

Traxxas sells diff oils at 10, 30 and 50k. I guess 1 = 10k, 3 = 30k and 5 = 50k, 2/4 being a mixture of 10/30 and 30/50. 50k is good for cores, maybe a bit on the heavy side for pieces. 30k is great on pieces, maybe a bit too quick. 10k I guess would be way too fast and runny for 3x3 meaning that it will end up in a puzzle thats hard to control and in the lube wearing out too quickly. 10-30k doesnt work too well with cores, 30k is okay I guess ( I have that and have used it). 1-3 would be for bigger puzzles and 3-5 for smaller puzzles and cores.

Ohnonononono

I have a weight 3, it's really really runny and really really slow
The only thing going for it is that it makes the cube feel nice and soft.
IDK why it's so slow, I think it's closer to shock oil than diff oil

Ok. I'm thinking weight 4 sounds good. Sounds good for both pieces and core.

I remember Izo saying what weight izo lube was but I can't seem to find the thread. It was in one of his shop's threads. IIRC it was something ending with 5. either 25, 35, or 45. I would think 35 though. I'm still using my 2 CC of izo lube after lubing about 10 cubes and there's still a lot left.

I'm sure he said that it was 10k or 15k

People that say that diff oil makes the cube slow dont know how to use it. I dont think thecubicle.us or izo or anyone for that matter would sell a diff oil heavier than 50k, because the next oil sold (100k) is definitely too viscous for cubing purposes. 50k is fine, but maybe not perfect for pieces. It's great but not as good as it could be.

My point is that even 50k diff oil makes the cube faster, not slower. If your cube gets slower from using any of these products (assuming youre lubing a 3x3), you put too much in or didnt wait for it to break in. I only lube the core so that it spins well, put a little drop (a very thin 1cm long line) on an edge piece and a little drop (just a few tiny tiny beads of diff oil) on a corner piece. Then I just scramble and break it in thoroughly. Crazybadcubers tutorial on this is really good.

Also all cubes dont work well with lube. For example all the most common dayan 3x3s need lube where as the FangShi ShuangRen does not need it at all on the pieces. Be smart about it, dont just blindly pour anything in the cube and expect it to magically get better immediately.

It is not really runny. It is not like Maru thin. I just know that it came out of the nozzle a bit easier, with less effort, than the traxxas 10k did. I'd put it as "traxxas 8k" if that existed lol

hi everyone!
i live in India so the only online store ( that iam aware of) from which i can buy a lubricant is shop.scmu.in. But the only lubricants available there are maru lube and calvin. The calvin lube high viscousity has only 2 ml for 270 INR ( around 4-5 dollars) wheras i can get 10 ml maru lube for 125 INR( around half the price) . Which one is better if i apply it to my zhanchi? Is 2ml enough to lubricate my cube well enough for at least 2-3 months?

Cant you buy from abroad? Internationally?

However Maru is used as "steroids" only. Its very good but it wears out very fast. Also it's really bad on the zhanchi, it will just pour through like water. From those two I definitely recommend Calvins lube. 2ml is actually a lot, you can lube tens of puzzles with it.

no i dont think i can buy internationally.
So, how do i lube a calvins lube? i dont think there are many videos on how to lube a calvins lube as all videos in youtube show reviews. Can someone upload a link or a video?
thnx for the fast reply:)

Its the same as any other silicone based lubricant. You use it just like lubix.

Do a youtube search for how to properly lube and assemble a dayan zhanchi by crazybadcuber and follor those instructions.

Edit: Nevermind, here it is.

I have pne, it says it contains petroleum distilates. iits not under petroleum based though, ill give it a try on my big cubes.

I get mine at BestBuy. It's in the RC car department and under the name "Traxxas"
I recently bought some from a Hobby Shop called "Great Hobbies" in Ottawa. They have a variety of weights, brands, etc.
