A question about bigBLD centers:

Most of you are probably saying that commutators for centers are faster than U2. For me it's the other way around, since it takes a while to find a comm, and my successrate is way smaller with commutators. Do you think I should still practice the comms instead of using U2?

It depends how fast you want to be. Sub-5 444bf and sub-10 555bf then you'll definitely need comms.

It's just something you need to stick with. It'll eventually click and you won't want to go back to U2!

I don't really know how fast I want to be. I have yet to decide if I want to BLD seriously. That's the biggest problem here. If I knew what I wanted to do It wouldn't be so hard choosing

I execute M2 in around 30-40 seconds. I sometimes will use the setup of a piece to UB to create an 8 move commutator. Are there any other tricks I can use to get my execution down to 20-25 seconds (cuz that's where I need to be in order to get sub 1)?

You really do not need 20sec execution for sub1! 20 second execution is a really good pace with 3style and about what you would need to get around a 30 second solve. Just work on your memo.

I mean 20 second execution for soley M2

new to BLD - how to memorize the edges

Hello I'm trying to resolve the 3x3 rubik cube blindfolded using the M2 method for the edges, and I'm having problems with the memorization part when the cubies go to the M slice location. for example using this scramble: B2 M' F2 D M S2 U' L2 S' R2 D' S' U.

i'm using the http://www.speedsolving.com/wiki/index.php/Speffz
https://sites.google.com/site/recursoscuberos/bld/memo-letras

I always hold the cube Blue=Up, White=Front

how would you memorize it?

E A(M2) O and then?

thank you for your help

You gotta go back to A and then break into a new cycle again. The rule is that when you break into a new cycle, you execute until you execute a target on the same piece you originally shot to.

So here is how it breaks down:
E (you've reached the buffer)
AOA (you've broken into and solved one cycle)
Then you can choose any unsolved edge to start a new cycle from. For example, B or G. That cycle will end after you target the first piece of it again. If you started with B, your cycle ends when you do B or M. After the cycle is over, there are two possibilities:

1. All edges are solved and you are done.
2. There are still unsolved edges and you have to break into a new cycle again by targeting an unsolved edge.

Hope this helps.

thanks.

I dont know if i have to choose any unsolved edge after E, or do i have to choose any unsolved edged after ( E A(m2) )

what would your list of edges be? so i can practice with it, and understand when the cycle start again.

how would do you the list. that way i can understand with a working example.

You have to target the piece you break into the cycle with twice. It makes sense, since you have to put the buffer piece somewhere and then target that spot again so that it goes back to the buffer position. So, as I said, you do AOA and then continue on with, for example, B...B or B...M.

Also, please put your message below the quote so that it's not as confusing.

If I really set there mind to it, and I mean like I go nuts for this, how long do you think I could memorize all of the cycles for 3BLD edges?

You don't "memorize" cycles. You learn them. If you already have full 3-style for corners, it could take as little as two months, but don't forget that you're nevfer done improving your cycles.

If you don't understand how to "learn" cycles instead of memorizing them, check out my written tutorial on making the transition (in mah sig).

Why so many accounts though?
