Is there a good printable bld guide to be found somewhere on the net? I Will be on a long trip and wants to use the time to try learning bld but i will not have access to the internet so the guide need to be printable.

I have a pdf copy of Joels tutorial :) Simply the best written tutorial on OP:)
But (probably) due to IE at work I cannot attach it here.

Send me a PM with your email and I'll send it to you.

I solved that problem by just not changing the orientation at all. Whatever position the cube is in after the scramble is what I use, because otherwise I waste more time finding a "good" orientation.

This ^ You can also use the corners only feature on qqtimer in 3x3x3 subsets. Flip a coin to decide whether to do a T-perm on top for parity each time and you can keep track of your memo/execution times for corners and see what needs improving.

And if one wanted to acheive sub 1 with an execution of M2 for edges and 3-style for corner, what would the splits be for a 35 second execution and a 40 second execution?

I can easily sub-1 m2/3-style with 20s memo/40s exe

Can someone tell me the amount of letters you need to memo for cubes 5-9?

For example I know 3x3 is 20 and 4x4 is 54.
3x3 - 10 words
4x4 - 24 words
5x5 - 40 words
6x6 - 65 words
7x7 - 90 words
8x8 - 130 words
9x9 - 165 words
All numbers are approximate - it depends on solved centers. The common formula is about 2.6 * (n-1)^2 words.

How many letters though? Just double the number of words?

At what point in multiBLD is it worth changing memo system? Specifically, for 2 cubes, should I memo like normal (probably 2 images for the two sets of corner, an image for the second cube's edges and audio for the first cube) or will it make it easier to switch straight away to something like journey/roman rooms?

It's worth going to roman rooms ASAP. For two cubes, memorize the first one in a room and do the second one as a normal 3BLD.

I have started to experiment some with sighted 5BLD solves but ran in to a some problems with the midges because some of the 3x3 algs I use messes up the centers. (I use M2)
What is the best ways to deal with
-parity?
-flipped pices?
-BU target?

1) Don't use M U2 M' U2 and similar 4-movers. Well, you can use (U2 M U2 M')*2 instead.
2) BU as always - flip, M2, flip back.
3) Parity: for switching UBL and UBR, UB and UR you do
y T-perm y' Rw2 F2 U2 r2 U2 F2 Rw2.
4) Flipping edges - the most pain for me. You can solve it after centers (like, M' U M' U M' U2 M U M U M U2).
Or: if you want to flip DF and FR, do DF>FR>UB and DF>UB>RF.
If you want to flip FR and FL, do DF>FR>FL and DF>LF>FR.
