I've had a few sub-40s with M2/OP, but they were on relatively easy scrambles.

?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Well then you turn VERY fast!! What was your memo time then? Sub10?

I will combine that with my question to you, Marcell, Maskow and all the other good BLD-cubers from poland and everywhere else:

How do you get sub10 memo times or lets say sub20 memo times in average? Even on hard scrambles. I know, that its practise, practise, practise and thats what i do and i DO get better. But the step from some sub20 from times to time to sub20 in average seems so be one of the hardest steps. I think i will sove in ~25 secons avg before i will memo in sub20 average. Thanks for any advice!

For me it has always been a repeating story of hitting plateaus and maintaining the same memo speed no matter how much I practised, and then some time later suddenly improving again.

Which memo uses Marcell? Which methods?
It's good to use LPAO for edges and fonetic memo for corners?
When I should transition to M2? And when for the corners commutators?
I'm not sub-5 yet with 3BLD. Will I improve by practicing?
Thanks

Marcell uses letter pairs as far as I know. I have an explanation of a good letter pair system here.

Transition to M2 ASAP, but wait until about 1:30 average to add corner commutators.

Practicing is a good way to get used to BLD, which will make you improve, but the best way is to practice specific aspects of your solve.

You may want to check out my BLD tutorial. The third video teaches M2, the fourth teaches memo techniques and the fifth talks about ways to improve. Good luck!

Thanks, I'm learning from Matteo Colombo. He was a good M2 user.
Unfortunatly italian isn't a good language for letter pairing :(
I've seen your video and I liked it :D
What do you mean with: "pactice specific aspects"?

Look for your weaknesses and fix them. If you have trouble coming up with words for memo, make a list. If you have trouble identifying your letters, learn your letter scheme better. etc.
Uh okay. It was simple I think :D
At the moment so I have to improve a lot the corner execution. I use an orrible J Old Pochman Method.
Thank you and good luck for you top 3 race in 3BLD :)

Spanish isn't also very good for the standard lettering scheme which I use, I mix spanish and english all the time and ocasionally other languages also.

Noahaha videos are great for beginners, I learned both from his and Zane's videos, I highly recommend watching both.

Yes. I can use english but is difficult if you don't know a lot of vocabularies

There are examples of letter pairs words on the wiki, take a look at then, you can use some, or they can give you ideas for words in your language, like using book or movie character names for some ugly cases.

And mixing languages in memo is easier than it looks ;)

Ok, thats exactly the way it feels for me. So i will just have to go on practising..

Thanks, Dennis

Uh cool! I'll use it in the case I need. Is good for Multi?

So I watched the first 4 parts of Noah's 3-style tutorial. I am however still having trouble with commutators. I can do the ones directly explained but basically anything else is hard. I am starting with just RDF and coming with comms for it.

Try learning the 8 mover BH cases and understand them to come up with your own algs. Over time you might want to expand your arsenal into A9s and Columns and stuff. But the pure comms are easiest and gives you a great beginner understanding.

Try learning some raw algs from the BH page. Stick to the easy 8-movers and do the following as you do:

*Look at the Direct Inserts - apply Noah's explanations and figure out what the alg is actually doing. You will see the insertion consists of three moves and the interchange is one move but often solves a piece.
*Once you learnt a couple of algs of a particular type, try and experiment. I.e. L' U2 L [D'] L' U2 L [D]. Try swapping the [D/D'] moves or replacing them both with [D2] and see which pieces the comm cycles now. Do the same for the U2 move - try U' then U instead. As long as the form of the alg remains A B A' B' then you can work out some comms for yourself this way.
*Move onto new algs within that alg type and then try different commutator types - Toss Up and Drop and Catch are fairly similar.

A9's are just setting up to 8-move commutators with a cancellation. Some are easier to learn than to understand but the principle is the same throughout.

Look up and learn some awkward cases, or just different types of cases. i.e. one target on U layer and one on D layer, then two targets on the D layer etc, two targets on the same face etc. Then try to do set-ups to these cases.

Just some ideas that helped me!

Thanks. The hardest part for me is finding an insertion. The interchange is easy it is just insertions that are hard. I guess I should look some up.

Ollie said it all :) I'm in no way an expert in BH , but I have 1 small advice that worked for me , I guess if you're using OP , then your buffer is UBL , so learn all 54 cases of FDR , RFD , DFR , and with setup moves you can set any cycle to have one of those 3 stickers in them , in some cycles it will require some tracing I know , It's not the perfect way :) and don't let 56 alg scares you , they are all very similar in a way :) also note that if you learned all 54 , you actually learned 108 ( mirrors and stuff ) :) I guess this is an easy way to get into BH , I hope It helps :)

Edit : This was Noah's idea btw

Thanks for all the help. I am trying to find all cycles with UBL buffer to RDF. I am having trouble with three. FUR, BUR and LBD. All others I have been able to find cycles for.

Edit: Nevermind, figured them out. But still thanks.
