as sneaklyfox said F2L to LL should be 2:1 so less then 20 for F2L and less then 10 LL for sub 30 ideally.

Cross 3 seconds
F2L 17 seconds
OLL 4 seconds
PLL 6 seconds

thats a fairly realalistic sub 30 breakdown. although of course your cross can be a second faster and your f2l a second slower but yea.

Meh, I'm awful with the cross, I've recently been fiddling around with my zhanchi, done some mods, lubed the inside and outer core/edges etc, then adjusted the tension - as a result my times are fluctuating a lot as I get used to it, but one thing I've noticed is my cross is VERY slow for my average that I'm aiming for, plus my transition from cross to F2L is very poor, slowing me down even more, any tips on speeding this up?

cross: 3-7 seconds
F2L: 10-15 seconds
OLL: 3-5 seconds
PLL: 2-7 seconds

my OLL and PLL can be disastrously slow too though, some I can do very fast (A perms, T perms etc.) and others very slow (F Perm and ugh, G-perms which I CANNOT fingertrick o.e) I should drill them all one day, but I don't plan on learning full OLL until sub 20.

I don't think my F2L is too bad at the moment, still room for improvement but before my mods to the cube I was fairly fast and consistently averaging sub 15 without including cross and sub 20 including. I'm still speeding up my lookahead but what is the best way to improve from here, most particularly the cross?

Figure out the full cross no matter how long it takes, including finger-tricks. Then close your eyes and perform what you figured out without looking. Repeat.

Even if it takes you ten minutes or more, do it. If you do that just a couple times a day, you'll be surprised how much better you are after a week or two. You just have to make sure you are actually doing it, and not giving in to the frustration. Push through it.

If you're already doing that and the issue is mostly move count, then use http://laire.fi/jarcs/ to see what some truly optimal crosses look like and learn some tricks from it.

My 3x3 avg is around 1:05 minutes (LBL method) :) I guess I should start learning 4LLL now. Damn, I love speedcubing!!!

My cube is a storebought Rubik's Cube (Not lubricated). Bought it last year.

Help on building the cross faster?

The cross is the one move that kills my time completely. I've only been cubing for a month now and my times are around a minute. I use f2l, but follow the rest as the beginner method. Sometimes, I would even take 15 minutes on the cross! I really need some tips on making the cross and and narrowing my times into sub 40. And how do you guys do the cross on the bottom? I feel so uncomfortable doing it on the bottom.

As someone who struggles with cross as well, I find that taking a lot of time to plan ahead helps. Spend a couple minutes just figuring out exactly what you want to do helps. Also, memorize where the edges are and build the cross in your head without the cube, work on the optimal hand movements and minimize turns. I've had solves where the cross was 7-8 seconds but LL was only 8-9. LL is patterns, cross is taking your time and working through it over and over again.

Don't worry about going over 15 seconds inspection, just take as long as you need to fully plan the cross. Doing it blindfolded can also help, since it forces you to know exactly what you are going to do before you start. As for cross on bottom, I imagine it's just something you get used to. I've always done cross on bottom though so maybe someone else can help with that :p

how to become best in country .. ? please help

Hallo all.. i wnat be have most of NR in me country .. (czech republic) http://www.worldcubeassociation.org...ublic&years=&show=100+Persons&average=Average

I am solver about 9 mounts and my avarage is 18.22 seconds and OH 27.42 and but I have very big gap... if I have good case i have time about 15 seconds .. and if I have bad case i have 20 and more how can I do that all my times be under 20 sec ?

and how can i training to competison ? how can i know my limits .. becaouse I want.. be sub10 .. its very hard .... but not possibly .. please help

CFOP 3x3 Help! Anything apreciated!

I have been using CFOP for a while now (8 months, and I feel everyone else got to sub 15 in that time), and my times have dropped to around 30, then I hit a wall. I learned to look ahead, and my times are beginning to drop again. However, I have many problems still, and any comments (except stupid ones) will be apreciated.
1. My cross is just awful, and I know people say it is just intuitive/easy, but i think it is hindering times. My cross is around 4-8 secs.
2. My times are very inconsistent- depending on the day they can be anything from 23-33 secs, making my average inconsitent as well which is just frustrating.
3. I feel my PLLs are slow compared with everyone else dispite having practiced them.
4. I know 2 look OLL and about 4 OLL algs.
5. I think my F2L is slow, as in it takes me 10 moves to place 1 akward pair - I see people doing it in 5.
6. Should I learn another method? (I don't really want to but I may if I am confident enough or think it will help my CFOP)
Any tips would help. Should I Learn more algs for anything? Any specific videos I show get tips from? Will my times just keep dropping with practice?
(And please dont spam ROOOOOOUXXXXX!!!, as it isn't very helpful to me).
P.S I use a V2 Stickerless Guhong and I have a Stickerd Zanchi in the post. Recommendations? I'm quite an innacurate turner.

P.B Non Lucky, a few 21 sec solves.
P.B Lucky, 15 secs
Av of 12, 28-31 secs

Stop timing solves for a while. always try t osolve with as few moves as possible, look for new ways of solving cross edges/ F2L pairs.
Learn full OLL.
Learn another method, but try to become satisfied with your cfop skills first. knowing lots of methods "a bit" is no good.
post a video in the solve critique thread so we can help you further.

oh, and here is your anything:

Im sitting around a 25 second average atm (been there for a couple of months now) And from the sound of it your cross really is pretty horrible learn to preplan your cross during inspection. Ive also recently gone color neutral and its helped me alot its allowed me to always have a pretty easy cross and it lets me look ahead to my next pair so much easier.

The inconsistency just happens we have good days and bad days. But as you continue to practice the consistency should get better.

You said you feel like your PLLs are slow. If you can excute all (or nearly all) of your PLLs sub 3 then there decent (recognition and excution to be sub 3 is a great goal though)

You shouldnt worry to much about OLL at this point (I know around 2/3 OLL and half the time it hurts more then helps me cause I could do 2 look in the same time or faster) but if you do learn full OLL im sure itll help in the long run learning how to recognize and recall and excute at a decent speed early on.

Either learn algs for those awkward cases or dont time yourself and after you get a case that takes you a while to do experiment with it for a while and find a more efficient way to do that case.

You could learn another method (I learned Roux but Im barely sub 1 minute with it but that helped kept me more interested in cubing)

For me my PB non lucky was 17.90
PB lucky 17.03
So im not great but thats just my opinion on things your could work on and stuff.

Well not everyone gets to sub 15 in 8 months. It completely depends on the individual and how much they put into it.
Basically as you say, everything could use some improvement and if you keep practicing you will improve. If some things like the cross seem too difficult and you are not making much progress then look up the cross threads in the search bar.
If an F2L case takes you too many moves and you see other people doing them in less, compare what they did to you and see if switching to their way of solving a case feels better to you (use reconstructions for this or reconstruct faster cubers on your own.)
OLL and PLL get faster over time but if you are worried about about proper execution for fastest time then take a look at the many videos on youtube for that step.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kossdjLYqsc Feliks PLL

Other than that there is no way getting around practice. You can learn all the F2L cases and all the finger tricks for each LL alg and not improve much because you lack experience solving a lot. When you keep solving a little each day, over time you will be able to look ahead more. I am in the process of going from sub 15 to sub 13 and the difference between my 10 second solves and my 15 second solves is how easy it was to look ahead in F2L. Over time the number of solves where I could easily look ahead increases naturally.I feel that many cubers are looking for this magic piece of knowledge that will make them always that good but the truth is it just takes dedicated practice over time.

Ao100 every day and solve casually while trying to think out the best solution for cross and pairs. Learn to do cross and F2L blindfolded. When you can do them blindfolded, don't look at them, look ahead.
Look up some F2L algs, start using them in your solves.
Use the time you would spend fapping by practicing PLL's.
And if you like learning algs, learn that Full OLL, I got from about 22 to sub-20(about 18) when I learned it after doing few ao100 in a week.

It doesn't depend on the amount of months/years you spend cubing, it matters how long each day you work. Back when I was around 25, I practiced nearly 4 hours a day(in classes, I'm an awful person :P). Put that effort in, and you'll be sub-15 in no time.

Everything your experiencing is completely normal. Keep doing solves. Do the cross blindfolded etc.

Everything will come with time.
