Yeah. I get muddled in the terminology.

I want UF to be my buffer in the future so I'm thinking I'll switch to turbo and then start adding in better 3-cycles. Idk though. Anyone have a better strategy?

Just start doing df comms. It isn't worth your time to switch to tuRBo when you know m2, and understand comms.IMO.

Hrmm. I like UF as a buffer for comms, so I'll switch buffers and use turbo as a backup.

Use double buffer!! YEAH!!! \m/

U turns are slightly faster than D turns, and are much more comfortable.
I wouldn't change anything about M2 (maybe add few easy comms) until your times go sub1 constantly, just practice memo and corners, M2 is good enough for sub1.

Sub-1 is not my ultimate goal =D I think the sooner I switch the better. I'll probably use M2 at least until Dixon. Then I'll go 9 weeks without a comp so that'll be a good time to change. I'll be practicing comms until then though.

How do you solve 5BLD M2 parity for midges?

Also, for the midges it's just the same as M2 on a 3x3 right?

It is the same. Only one two things are important.

1) Some M2-algs can switch some center pieces (f.i. M' U2 M' U2). So you should solve centers first, cause then it won't matter, if the Uf and Ub center switch places.

2) Parity takes a bit longer than on the 3x3. You can use the same alg U' F2 U M2 U' F2 U, then solve the remaining corners (f.i. with a R-Perm) (Same as on 3x3). But then the Ub, Bu, Ul and Lu centers switched places. So you have to fix this with: L' U L U (Rw2 F2 U2 r2 U2 F2 Rw2) U' L' U' L

1) Another variant is to use safe-center algs:
UF: M' U2 M' D2 M U2 M' D2
DB: D2 M U2 M' D2 M U2 M
flip UR & UL: R' E' R2 E2 R' U2 R E2 R2 E R U2

2) Another variant is: when I got a parity, I leave UB and DF, and UBL and URB swapped, then solve all centers and then I do
F2 y (T-perm) y' Rw2 F2 U2 r2 U2 F2 Rw2 F2

If you get a pop in the middle of a BLD solve, and you replace it in the wrong way, can you take off the blindfold, see if you replaced it in the wrong way, and then put the blindfold back on and take out/replace the edge? The regulations say this:
5b4) For blindfolded events a puzzle defect may only be repaired during the solving, and must be done blindfolded. Penalty: disqualification of the solve.
B5c) The competitor may remove the blindfold before stopping the timer, but after removing the blindfold no moves must be applied to the puzzle anymore. Penalty: disqualification of the solve.
Because I'm not making any moves and I have replaced the blindfold, it sounds like I can, but I'd like to double check.

No, you can't. May luck be with you.

No, cause then you could theoretically track cross/first block/whatever, blindfold solve that, take the blindfold off, look at next step, blind that, etc.
