Exactly what porkynator said. Think of the cycle as a closed loop (A->B->C->A) and do whichever part of the commutator will move a piece in the right direction.
I do something I call "Put it where it needs to go first"
Let's assume A, B and C are the 3 pieces you need to cycle. A and B are the 2 pieces which can be swapped with the interchange move, and C can be inserted where A is at the moment. if the cycle is A->B->C->A, do insertion first (C needs to go where A is, so put it there); if the cycle is C->B->A->C, do interchange first (B needs to go where A is).
Sorry for the language, I'm not used to talk about commutators (or other cubing stuff) in English, I hope you understood.
You wouldn't BELIEVE the amount of effort I had to put into learning commutators. Seriously. I had to do 4 huge attempts (after each I'd just admit defeat, until the 4th and last try where I finally got it). Just keep pushing through. You'll eventually get it.
ok thanksDefinitely have a firm firm grasp on 8movers before even attempting to learn orthogonal or A9s.
Orthogonal are just 8 movers with 1 move setup. So clearly you have to be able to do all 8 movers to be able to do orthogonals. And A9's are basically the same thing, just with a cancellation.
Cyclic and per special I just learned an alg, and saw how that worked. I normally just rotate to solve those cases.
For column, it's like an 8 mover, but with a 5 move "insertion"...I'd look at examples and see how they do it. For Cyclic/Per special and Columns...it's not fully needed to learn 8 movers first...(well, you need to be able to understand commutators, how the work) but I'd start there.

Not for BH. Columns are a 1-move setup that doesn't cancel into an A9, or a 1-move setup with a cancellation into a cyclic shift.
Plenty of people use the 5-move insertion for speed optimal comms like [R' F' R2 F R, U2] though.
optimal URL -> LBU -> RUB ?
hi, I'm sorry if my english isn't perfect but I'm a italian cuber
I solve 3BLD with M2/Old Pochmann in 4 minutes, I know some cubers solve the cube with this method in less than 2 minutes
Will I change method to solve in less than 3 or 2 minutes?
I think I could start to learn turbo method for corner
change OP to 3OP, it's much funnierand a bit faster
