So I have never actually owned or bought lube (I have always borrowed from people) and now I finally decided that I want to buy some. I settled on traxxas 50k. But I still can't decide on how much to buy. At first, I was pretty set on buying 10cc from the cubicle because it was in the middle, but then I found that amazon sold 50cc! So I started wondering whether 10cc is enough.

I know that the cubicle has rough estimates but I would still like to hear how much the different amounts last for you guys. Note that I probably won't use the lube that often (maybe once every two months, depending on whether I get new cubes). Also, if I were to buy from amazon, how long do they take and are they reliable?

I have lubed like 7 cores with wt5 from thecubicle and I've used not much more than 1cc from my 5cc syringe. I expect it to last forever :), well, not that much but surely for years (up to 30-35 cubes). I have also lubed the pieces of those 7 cubes with wt3 or wt2 (depending on the cube) and I have used like 1cc wt2 and 0.5cc wt3.

The black oil is cube dust. It happens when the plastic of your cube gets worn down. You can't really get rid of it permanently, so just accept it.

Yeah, that's what I told him but I was not quite sure. What I would recommend in the future is to lube the core when the cube is new (perhaps not the pieces if you want to break the cube in first).

That depends on how much you put and the specific cube you lubed but you should feel the difference and know when you need to apply a bit more. It should last for a month or two at least but, as I said, it depends on a lot of factors.

Um I lubed it about 1.5 months ago and its a zhanchi

If you feel it's a bit dry again, get an edge out, put a bit of lube on it, put it in again and let it spread. Repeat if needed. The core lube should last much more than a couple months, probably a year or more, they say. After doing this 2 or 3 times maybe it's worth to fully disassemble the cube and clean it before relubing.

at first something bad was happening to my lubix fusion (guhong v1) after I wiped off the lubix and added silicone weight 1 and maru. it was sticking a bit after it stops moving. I was thinking that maybe I should have never wiped off the lubix it came with. then I left it in the cooler at work 32F/0C after a bad lube job and wow! even after the pieces warmed up to room temp the lubrication was still perfect. if your cube sticks put it in the ice box! 1 hour is fine.

I would lube the core like once every 6 months and the pieces like when it feels kinda dry
but it will run out quickly like that :( but ill try lube the pieces soon again.

I only use 10K. The core usually lasts for 2 months while the pieces, 2 weeks

Is that something similar to wt1 from thecubicle? I guess it's too runny for proper core lubing, that's why it only lasts 2 months. I use wt5 and the 1st time I lubed a cube with that was like 5 months ago and I still don't hear any spring noises or have any other indication that the core is not well lubed still. It is also my main cube, so I use it almost daily, at least 400 solves a week.

Weight 1 is equivalent to 15 weight not 10000 haha. I'd say it's more like weight 3.

Recently my Hualong got really slow i and i don't know why. I've wiped it out twice and lubed it with cubicle weight 2 twice and it is super slow and hard to turn. anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Tensions? Or wash with water and repeat. (Dont wash the blue core and the metal components)

I have a question. Chris Olson's Hualong seems super good. I tried putting 50k on the pieces but it just feels super sticky. Did I put too much in? Weight 3 feels pretty nice but it's not perfect. I'm still finding the perfect way to lube this thing. right now I'm using maru lube. But this feels sticky as well. Is it because I didn't wipe the pieces good enough? I think I cleaned it pretty well though.. Is it normally like that? What should I do? I like smooth cubes and I HATE sticky cubes :P.

I think you should use traxxas 50k more for the core. If you want to use such a heavy lube for pieces, I recommend just putting a bit of lube on one corner and one edge, and then let the lube spread while yiu break the cube in.

I sometimes lubricate my cubes by overlubing them with a mixture of high-viscosity and lower viscosity to make them really gummy, and then just break the lube in no matter how hard it its to turn and how bad the cube feels

Thanks! But does the Hualong normally feel like it has lube in it? Or is it because I didn't clean it right? It kinda feels a bit sticky...
